This is why I love things like the Last Chance Qualifier.
Two years ago, eight years into his pro career Joe Dean finally earned his DP World Tour card. Except he couldn't afford to go to events.
So he continued to work as a truck driver, which he had 3 or 4 days a week since Covid to keep his career going.
And when he saved enough money he went to DP events, soon finished second in Kenya. Finished 37th in points that year, cleared more than a million dollars.
Finished 73rd in points last year. Having another solid year this year.
And today the former truck driver took advantage of an awesome new qualifer put on by the R and A, got up and down on the last and qualfied for Open Championship.
The last five or so years pro golf on all major tours has been dominated by talk of money, money, and more money.
The Last Chance Qualifier just reminded us that there are players just fighting for a chance. A former truck driver just got into the Open Championship
