Minimum wage in 2005 was £5.05 an hour.
A Freddo cost 10p.
One hour of work bought you 50 Freddos.
In 2026, minimum wage is £12.71 and a Freddo is 39p.
One hour of work now buys you just 32 Freddos.
So despite minimum wage more than doubling, your Freddo buying power has fallen by 36%.
If wages had actually kept pace with Freddo inflation, minimum wage would be £19.65 an hour today.
Forget economists. Forget politicians.
The Freddo has just delivered the most depressing cost of living graph you'll ever see.
I don't know if Kier will resign tomorrow - but what I think is an absolute national tragedy is that the Labour Party haven't got a single MP out of all 403 of them in parliament that are deemed good enough to replace him! They've had to go to the Mayor of Manchester, shoe horn him in as an MP, just so they have someone with a modicum of charisma and gravitas to be the next PM.
The lack of talent, business know-how and intelligence across all our MP's in all parties is what is, in my opinion, what is wrong with our country. I just wish we could fix it, but of course we can't because it relies on those very MP's to change this - and, as we all know, turkeys don't vote for Christmas!
It genuinely amused me that people think replacing Starmer will make things better.
From Boris Johnson's election onwards, we've been shuffling the bollards on the Titanic.
You have to actually change direction if you want to avoid crashing into the iceberg:
- End Net Zero
- Make business viable again
- Get welfare under control
- Fund defence
- Ensure equality under the law
- Arrest criminals and keep them in jail
- Deport illegal immigrants and close the border
- Bring the civil service to heel
Burnham will become as unpopular as Starmer within months since he isn't going to do any of that.
Soon to be seven prime ministers in ten years in Britain.
Unprecedented.
What went wrong?
I’ll take a guess: nobody is listening to the electorate. Politicians think they know better and ARE better than the little people.
None of them GET BRITAIN.
Careerists.
@RealismHelps@CallumLyon Absolute rubbish. I earn a very decent salary and my industry has been completely stagnant. No matter if you work harder the reward will generally be the same across the board. Businesses do not have the money to compete unless you’re in banking or a very niece sector.
@RealismHelps@CallumLyon Missing the point completely. Most businesses are reluctant to give any pay rises to compete with inflation. Most are stuck on pre covid salary’s. Inflation has increased 30% since then
The UK economy is basically a subscription service at this point.
£900 for rent. £200 for council tax. £150 for energy. £300 for food. £200 for fuel.
Then someone asks why you've got no savings.
I don't know mate, probably because existing costs £1,750 a month.
Zevenor Gordon, a sexual predator, has been jailed for 16 months for sexually assaulting 6 schoolgirls and women in London.
Paul Powlesland, an environmental lawyer, is facing 2 years in prison for cleaning and removing garbage from the London river without a license.
British justice system is broken.
Insane. The UK just spent nearly £12 billion IN ONE MONTH, in May, just paying off the interest on our national debt. This is the highest figure for May since months began. We are very, very close to a major debt crisis in this country.
Ahhh … you can smell the fudge a mile away.
Government says unemployment fell from 5.0% to 4.9%, good news right? Er …. No. It’s a fudge…
The other figures show
▪️Vacancies fell again to around 707,000, lowest level for more than 5 years.
▪️Hiring is weak
▪️Payroll employment is lower than last year
▪️Economic inactivity rose in the latest quarter.
AND … Unemployment only counts people who are actively looking for work. If they stop looking, they move from “unemployed” to “economically inactive”.
(Oh and that bit has increased).
Ta daaaaa BUSTED.
Soon Labour will have a difficult decision.
Option 1: An arrogant socialist with glasses from the north
Option 2: An arrogant socialist with glasses from the south
Choose wisely, you weirdos.
🚨🇪🇺 EU wants INTERNET BY PASSPORT - and plans to block VPNs to enforce it.
“The new age verification system cannot be bypassed via VPN.”
Their plan is totalitarian surveillance! 1984 is coming!
Social media trends have turned the world’s most beautiful places into endless bathroom lines at a concert, where everyone waits for hours just to take the same photo to show to people who couldn’t care less 🌎📸
Nothing captures the shallow decay of our time better than this
Look at the state of this🤦🏼♀️
Screeching, aggressive & mostly masked activists, literally closing down a street to stop people attending a debate. They think they have the right to dictate what people can & can not listen to….Yet they think other people are the ‘facists’.
The debate was whether “the West is right to be suspicious of Islam”?
The local paper describes @TRobinsonNewEra who was speaking at the debate as a “right-wing agitator” and an “ultra-nationalist”. The same outlet merely describes these aggressive activists - preventing people attending & clashing with police etc - as simply “protestors” who were “mostly peaceful”.

Absolute 🤡🌍
I look forward to watching this debate when it becomes available. It will be fascinating.
