A 57-year-old veteran in Kentucky who served this country just lost his food stamps because his disability pay disqualified him from the new work requirements.

A 62-year-old woman in Ohio just lost her Medicaid.

A grandparent raising their grandchildren just learned they have to prove 80 hours of work a month to keep food on the table, or lose everything.

Mike Johnson calls this "REAL RELIEF for hardworking Americans."

The same bill gave a $75,000 tax cut to every millionaire in America.

The same bill cut $700 billion from Medicaid.

The same bill cut 4 million people from food stamps, 72% of them working households.

The same bill adds $4.5 trillion to the national debt your kids will pay.

They didn't cut spending because the country needed it. They cut spending because they needed an excuse to cut taxes for their donors.

That's not relief. That's mugging the American people, and now you want a medal for it?

As we observe Black Music Month, this 1958 Jet cover reflects a part of my mother’s public life that is sometimes overlooked. Her voice and artistry were part of the freedom movement, and music was one of the ways she contributed to the struggle for justice.

Her artistry and her activism were never separate.

Meet Dustin Heard, Evan Liberty, Paul Slough, and Nicholas Slatten, the four trigger happy Blackwater mercenaries who murdered 14 civilians including two children in Baghdad in 2007.

Trump pardoned them during his first term.

At the time of the murder they worked for MAGAt and Trump campaign contributor Erik Prince. Prince's sister Betsy Devos was also serving as Trump's Secretary of Education at the time of the pardons.

🚨 A concrete dome in the Pacific containing over 120,000 tons of U.S. nuclear waste is cracking.

On Runit Island in the Marshall Islands, a massive concrete structure known as the Runit Dome, or 'The Tomb,' seals a crater left by a 1958 American nuclear test.

Built in the late 1970s as a temporary cleanup measure, the dome holds more than 120,000 tons of highly radioactive material, including lethal plutonium-239 which remains dangerous for over 24,000 years.

However, the site was never fully lined, and because it sits on porous coral sediment, groundwater and seawater are already passing through the structure. Though current nuclear leakage is relatively small, scientists warn that rising ocean levels and escalating storm surges could soon compromise the dome's integrity entirely.

At just 6.5 feet above sea level, the island is highly vulnerable to the climate crisis. Projections estimate a sea level rise of up to 3.3 feet by 2100, which would submerge much of the area and put immense pressure on the already cracking concrete.

Researchers have already detected elevated radioactive isotopes in local soil samples outside the dome. With no permanent solution in sight, this ticking environmental time bomb highlights the enduring, dangerous legacy of mid-century weapons testing in the Pacific.

BREAKING: "MORE PEOPLE WILL DIE" — Sotomayor delivers FURIOUS bench dissent after Supreme Court legalizes Trump’s immigration crackdown.

In a single devastating day, the Supreme Court's conservative majority handed Donald Trump TWO sweeping immigration victories — and Justice Sonia Sotomayor delivered a furious dissent warning of the human cost.

First, the 6-3 court stripped Temporary Protected Status from 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians — clearing a path to deport hundreds of thousands of people back to countries devastated by war and disaster. The same protections are now in jeopardy for a dozen other nations.

Justice Elena Kagan's dissent quoted Trump's own vile words about Haitians, writing that his statements "fairly SHOUT, in their racial undertones and overtones alike, that race entered into the president's resolve to remove Haitians from this country." This is the man who falsely claimed Haitians were eating people's pets and called Haiti a "filthy, dirty, disgusting" country. The court somehow decided that wasn't racial hostility, akin to declaring that water isn’t wet.

Then came the second blow. The court ruled Trump can physically turn away asylum seekers at the border — blocking them from setting foot on U.S. soil where the law would let them claim protection. The conservative majority absurdly decided that migrants standing AT the border haven't "arrived" until they fully cross.

Justice Sotomayor was so outraged she read her dissent ALOUD from the bench — a move reserved for the most profound disagreements — visibly catching Justice Alito off guard.

"The consequences of today's decision are predictable," Sotomayor declared. "MORE PEOPLE WILL DIE. More people will attempt to cross the border illegally, and some will make it while others will not."

She demolished the majority's tortured logic, comparing it to a train conductor announcing the train is "arriving at Penn Station" while it's still half a mile away. "It makes no sense," she said.

She's right. Many asylum seekers face torture and death in their home countries — and sending them back is a cruel rejection of their plights. Then, there are the doctors, engineers, students, and caregivers who were given shelter under earlier administrations and built lives here legally under their Temporary Protected Status. Now they face deportation to nations where, their lawyers say, they too could be KILLED.

This is what a Supreme Court captured by right-wing ideologues delivers: legal cover for cruelty, dressed up as statutory interpretation, while a solitary justice with compassion warns of the human consequences.

Innocent people will die. And the court can’t say it wasn’t warned.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the extraordinary outbursts of the President of the United States against female journalists... well, actually against journalists in general and journalism. But it feels like he saves his most childlike behavior and irrational language for female reporters, calling them all kinds of names that kids in kindergarten are given times out for. It’s stunning to me to witness such behavior from any leader, any CEO, any person of influence or importance. I’ve never witnessed someone like this raging, this weekend with @meetthepress host @kwelkernbc, just last week in the Oval Office with @cnn’s @kaitlancollins, calling women stupid or piggy, telling them to “smile”, calling them darling, demeaning their credibility. Every good man should denounce this behavior. Every person should be able to stand up for their colleagues and say “No more.”

Imagine this man screaming like this at your daughter, your wife, your sister, your mother... would you stand for it? No, you wouldn’t! And neither should any of us. It’s unacceptable and undignified. Period. End of story.

Tyler Robinson’s parents did not “turn him in.” They brought him to the police station bc they trusted the police and Tyler was clearly caught up in something bad.

Tyler Robinson was obviously involved- knowingly or not. My guess is not.

There are approximately 24 people per year wrongfully convicted of murder in this country. That number comes from census data on conviction rates (~9,000/yr) and uses Justice Scalia’s very conservative (and heavily criticized) estimate that 0.027% of convictions are wrongful.

That’s 1 wrongful conviction every 2 weeks. Does that mean we have entire police departments, prosecutors offices, courts and even possibly jury pools spread across America who are conspiring to wrongfully imprison people on a bi-monthly basis?

No. Of course not.

It takes 1-3 dirty and/or incompetent cops/detectives to taint an investigation and steer it a certain way and the rest of the system mostly just goes along bc that’s what well oiled machines do. Throw a dirty prosecutor in the mix and it’s game-set-match.

The simple fact that the FBI inserted itself into this investigation, even “taking the lead” on evidence collection and interviews, despite the fact that they had ZERO jurisdiction whatsoever should have been enough to give everyone pause.

My theory is this was a political assassination on behalf of Israel- ordered by either the state itself or supporters of it. The purpose of which was to send a very clear message to Trump and others that turning your back on Israel would not be tolerated.

(It is absolutely maddening how many people play stupid on this last part.)
