These are some of the most common opening sentences I’ve seen in manuscripts lately:
-A scene with smoke billowing
-The sounds of screams in the city
-Blood oozing from a wound due to some conflict
-A distant description of the landscape
-Waking from a dream

Bringing #1stLinePit to Instagram was a success!
So many people found new followers, grew their author accounts, and had their pitch showered with likes and encouragement. Thank you to every single one who participated! ❤️
#1stLinePit on IG yesterday was GREAT✨
thanks @1stLinePit for hosting & to everyone that participated🫶
your first lines, graphics, and reels were amazing🤩
For those doing @1stlinepit, if your account is private people may not be able to share your posts, and agents unable to see them, so worth making public for the weekend.
Is this why I've gotten like 20 new followers in the last two days! I have been wondering what kind of list I'm on 😅😅
But I also now have more followers on my book account (that I started a month ago) than my regular account that I've had for many years, so thank you all 💖
@AldenCullinane You can use a poster, as long as the first line is the first thing visible in your post.
You do not need to use Canva. I've made plenty of stuff in PowerPoint tbh 😅
Just make sure not to use AI art and you're good. 🥰

Next #1stLinePit will be on August 30 - but only on instagram!
Bc it's stressful enough to engage in a pitch event on just one platform, don't you think? 😅
