“The life in San Diego is even ten times better than San Jose.”

Norwegian player Amahl Pellegrino opened up about life in MLS after moving from Bodø/Glimt, where he was fantastic.

He spoke about San Jose Earthquakes, and now being with San Diego FC.

“To come to MLS from Norway and Europe, I think everyone just saw how MLS was starting to grow and the names that are starting to come to the league,” Pellegrino said on San Diego FC podcast.

“And when you see the names that are starting to come here, then it was like, ‘Yeah, I want to be a part of it.’

“So when San Jose came, I was thinking it will be something really cool, and we were living in California, and we were thinking the life will be really good on and off the field.

“But it wasn't, like how I wanted it to go. And then I got traded to San Diego, and the life in San Diego is even ten times better than San Jose.

“So my family really loves it here, it's easy for me to go to work and don't have any negative thoughts about that.

“My kids love school and are almost annoyed at me because it's Saturday and Sunday and it's no school, so that's a really good thing. That's a great sign.

“Also, it was really easy to come here because it's a lot of Scandinavians in the team.

“So with all the Danish and Swedish people, we can speak our languages together.

“So how they just took me and my family into San Diego, it was really nice and something we will always appreciate.

“And their wives were amazing with my wife, and every time we went away, they are always together, and it's so easy to be away and you don't think that they are having a harder time or they don't know what to do. They are just part of a big family here.

“So it's really nice to come here to this club, it has been so easy. Everyone is going in the same direction. Everyone is a really big family here, so I really love it here.”

Now 36, the Norwegian is happy to spend last moments of his career in sunny San Diego ☀️ especially after coming from a very cold region in Norway.
