Of course, market demands and the broader economic spillover effects matter. But that is not the whole story of “our space.” Given the very nature of space tech—as critical infrastructure, and a cornerstone of science and research—there is much more at stake.
Overemphasis on commercialization can harm the space industry, which don't always offer clear exit strategies. During development, profitability isn’t guaranteed, and gov. pressure can lead to high-tech, bespoke products that ironically struggle to scale or reach broader markets.
