Our Lightning Developer Bootcamp in Kigali officially came to an end yesterday 🇷🇼⚡

Five days of learning, building, contributing, and getting hands on with Bitcoin and Lightning came to an end yesterday.

The final day was hackathon day. After four days of learning the fundamentals, working with Bitcoin Core, contributing to open source, building on Lightning, and exploring real world use cases, participants had the opportunity to put everything together and build.

From ideas to working prototypes, it was amazing to see the creativity, technical skills, and energy in the room. More importantly, participants walked away with not just knowledge, but the confidence to keep building and contributing to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

A huge thank you to every participant who showed up, asked questions, wrote code, broke things, fixed them, and kept learning throughout the week. 🙌

A special shoutout to our instructor, @dzeg5 , for taking the participants through an incredible five days of technical learning and hands on sessions. Your dedication made a huge difference.

What if receiving bitcoin could be as simple as sharing an email address?

Today, receiving bitcoin often means sharing a long, difficult-to-remember address. Some payment addresses also depend on a website or server staying online.

BIP-353 offers a simpler option. It lets people use an easy-to-remember name, such as [email protected], to receive bitcoin. A wallet can use that name to find the right payment details, whether the payment is made through Lightning⚡ or directly on the Bitcoin network.

In our latest article, @chuksagb explains how BIP-353 could make bitcoin payments easier to share and more reliable, without requiring a payment server to run all the time.

The cohort went deeper into Bitcoin transactions. ⚡

Session 6 of Rust for Bitcoin 2.0 focused on Bitcoin Transaction Parsing & Decoding, with @200OKDeveloper guiding participants through the next layer of working with Bitcoin transaction data.

Building on the previous session, participants explored transaction inputs and outputs, TXIDs, transaction amounts, little endian byte ordering, VarInt encoding, and SegWit witness data.

The session also moved into practice as participants parsed raw transaction hexadecimal and continued building and testing their own Bitcoin transaction decoder using Rust.

Another practical step forward as the cohort strengthens its understanding of how Bitcoin transactions work at the byte level.
