One of the scenes in Leigh-Anne’s album film appears to be inspired by events she experienced with her former record label Warner Music UK.
In the scene, her character responds to a label executive who said her sound is “too urban” to be marketable or commercial:
“This album is a representation of me. Her. Us. Those that came before us, and those that will come after us. We’re praised as Black females for resilience, but you never reward us for our achievements. My ethnicity – or dare I say, colour – is celebrated, but seldom trusted.”
Ava Max and Grammy-winning producer/mix engineer Tom Norris have started following each other on Instagram.
Norris has worked on projects such as Lady Gaga’s “Chromatica” Charli xcx’s “BRAT” Zedd’s “The Middle” The Weeknd’s “My Dear Melancholy” and Zara Larsson’s “Midnight Sun”
Leigh-Anne’s movie ‘My Ego Told Me To: The Film’ drops TODAY at 4pm BST.
Featuring Leigh-Anne herself among its cast, the movie will be soundtracked by songs from her debut album ‘My Ego Told Me To’.
