Dispatches: On #Israel-#Gaza border. Battle tanks units regroup. Diesel engines roar. Caterpillar tracks kick up moon dust. Crews perch on mechanized cavalry. They prepare. Mortar loaded, launched. A thunderous rhythm. Golden ball of the setting sun. Gazes aimed at the horizon.
Dispatches: In Beit El, #WestBank. After Friday prayers, Palestinians protest Israeli occupation. They sling rocks, launch fireworks. But protest is met with tear gas, flashbang and live fire. Several injur ed, maimed. Tires burn, smoke rises. Sun illuminates the rising tension.
All Americans should be horrified and outraged by the brazen terrorist attacks on Israel and the slaughter of innocent civilians. We grieve for those who died, pray for the safe return of those who’ve been held hostage, and stand squarely alongside our ally, Israel, as it dismantles Hamas. As we support Israel’s right to defend itself against terror, we must keep striving for a just and lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Fake news ( if you call the piece news) that we are in discussions to sell the LA Times. Completely fabricated. We are committed to grow this most important newspaper on the West Coast and the journalistic need to speak truth to power.

Remembering #Iraq: U.S. troops opened fire on a civilian vehicle in #baghdad killing three members of their family. The driver didn't stop on command. Language barriers caused repeated incidents like this throughout the war.@latimes@latimesphotos
