Parents:
It’s tough out there, I understand that, but we can’t solely blame our athletes lack of development on their coaches. Question, how much they work on their own, do they read books and watch videos on the game and do they ask questions? Careful of blaming and look within.
It’s always interesting to hear stories from families whose coaches look down on players who get outside help/coaching.
Every single high level player has people who help them outside of their team/organization. Our ego should never get in the way of player development.
The goal is for players to become their own coach. They need to learn self evaluation. What things feel/look like when they are right & when they are wrong. What are their habits & corrections. Eventually, they need to learn to stop relying on outside voices to help.
Does playing for the most expensive program guarantee a college scholarship? Nope. Does being coached by the best coach guarantee a better player? Nope. Does having natural talent guarantee being a big leaguer? Nope.
You are your only guarantee. Your attitude determines it all.
Players & coaches:
What does it say about us as competitors if we feel we can’t compete without our best stuff, a healthy body or a highly talented roster/team? A true competitor finds a way. They understand they won’t always feel their best. They compete for love of the game.
@LE_Warhawks D Hall (Wadsworth HS 2023), slugs .625 for the weekend. Lots of pop: 2 triples, 1 double, 2 singles, 8 RBI's. Great teammate, high energy, high work ethic.
The 12th best player (out of 12) on an 11u team I coached several years back committed to a prominent D1 program today
1st of that group to do so

“As a leader — its your responsibility to elevate the rest of the guys.”
