THE INFAMOUS โ AYESU ALIBE DEGREEโ STORY
In 2014, at just 16 years old, I completed my MSCE with 16 points and thought my dream was finally taking off after securing a Turkish scholarship. Unfortunately, politics had other plans.
Determined to keep going, I started again at MCA in 2016, and by my second year, I had earned another scholarship to Sudan. Everything was on track until 2023, when war broke out during my 5th year(honours), forcing me to return home without the degree I had worked so hard for. While fleeing the conflict, I was even detained by the Sudanese Armed Forces after being mistaken for a South Sudanese soldier.
The war, the trauma, and the lives I saw lost could have easily made me give up. Instead, despite hearing the mockery of โA Yesu alibe degree,โ and with encouragement from friends here on Twitter, I started over once again through mature entry at MUBAS in 2024.
Today at 28 years old, after 11 years of setbacks, closed doors, and starting over more than once, your boy is finally graduating. ๐ญ๐๐
The journey was much longer than expected, but quitting was never an option. โค๏ธ๐ช๐พ๐
Komanso iwe mwini wa Sunday Soiree tadekha, you donโt have to hate on high society. You know what you have to do? Just be proud of yourself that now people are coming up with something after your event. Secondly, improve more so these people donโt beat you. Competition is always there and it helps you create more. For example, there was a time people were just talking about Podcast Malawi but now we have more than two or three. So donโt gatekeep because some of your tweets show youโre not comfortable with the high society movement. Just play your game nicely; theyโre the same people who attend Sunday Soiree. So donโt kill the Sunday Soiree vibe. Happy for the high society organisers; what theyโre doing is top-notch as well.๐๐ฟ
