🇮🇳National Space Day 2024 (NSpD-2024):
ISRO has organized the Bhartiya Antariksh Hackathon as part of NSpD-2024, featuring 12 problem statements on Geo-Spatial Applications.
Teams of 3-4 Indian UG, PG, and PhD students can participate through a dedicated web portal.
The portal will be launched on July 4, 2024, at 10:30 am by ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath.
Join us at https://t.co/QoSKJPsmFJ to watch the event LIVE.

Interested in learning a new programming language that enables you to prove the code you've written is correct?
Starting next week, we're teaching "Lean for Scientists and Engineers"!
An entry for a horror cult jam!
https://t.co/IfdJOktups
My second game with a team of 5 talented people. This one is significantly more playable than our previous attempt!
Another day, another jam.
https://t.co/7BlLMwjzlX
Worked as part of an amazing team of 5 on this one, and we barely made it in time, with a buggy mess.. but its our buggy mess ❤️
Made a game in <72 hours for the #ludumdare jam! I had the chance to work with an amazing artist and a composer to crank out something I'm quite proud of: https://t.co/ryatnT7QGF

I also wrote a blog post outlining some implementation details and things I learnt about game design over the course of that weekend. Check it out here: https://t.co/s2LoFmz1XG
If my previous posts on playing around with BECs using #Oqtant piqued your interest, but you're not too familiar with its physics to appreciate it, I plan to write up some short blog posts in the coming weeks, at an introductory level for undergraduates. Stay tuned :)
@infleqtion @OQtant As a result, over time we see that the shape of the BEC flips and it becomes more elongated along the previously tightly-bound axis compared to the loose one. This is, in fact, a characteristic feature of the BEC, as opposed to a thermal cloud which just expands isotropically.
The possibilities are endless with all the ways we can manipulate the BECs using @infleqtion 's @Oqtant. But there are some interesting characteristics we can see just by letting the BEC evolve without any tampering... what we notice here is a phenomena called "Shape inversion".
@infleqtion @OQtant It becomes apparent that the cloud rapidly expands along the direction of the tightly bound axis as compared to the loose one. This is because of the strong repulsive interactions that are felt along the tight axis due to the larger density in that direction.
This isn't all that interesting though.. what if we drop the barrier and let the BECs do their thing? Interference! These images do seem quite noisy though, so perhaps I will revisit them with some proper analysis.
In continuation to my last post, here I have projected a potential barrier using a blue-detuned laser beam to roughly split the BEC in half using the flexible projection system in @infleqtion 's new quantum matter service, #Oqtant.
@infleqtion I find it absolutely crazy that such a thing exists today and works as well as it does. If you even have the tiniest curiosity in BEC physics, I would highly recommend going through their wonderfully written demos at https://t.co/L8wax6oRmF.
I've been numerically simulating Bose-Einstein condensates for years, but always felt it to be a rather abstract concept. But today I made my very own BEC of Rb atoms cooled down to ridiculously low temperatures (<100nK) over the internet using #Oqtant developed by @infleqtion!
@infleqtion The #Oqtant platform has a pretty nice web application as well as a python API to create and manipulate BECs from the comfort of your couch! They even provide a rather generous quota of 10 jobs per day for free :)
