I’ve had the unique position of being a father/coach for the last decade. This year will be an emotional one, coaching @john_Arnold2026 for the final time in his senior year. Son, I could not be more proud of you as a Father or a Coach. I’ve watched you grow, lead, handle extreme adversity, and still show up everyday to compete. Your future is bright, stay hungry to learn, take on challenges, lead, and become part of a next chapter bigger than yourself. You’re are among the small percent that get to go to the next level. Keep climbing. A lot of people eager to watch this unfold. Roll Rangers 💚🖤
@nickstrong Oof. This same AD I would imagine makes the student athletes sign a code of conduct. Maybe we need to have 360 degree codes of conduct. Let’s make sure we turn away schools that can give a scholarship, and only look for that NCAA D-something.
I think if they are eligible in HS the GPA is just part of the equation. Some kids lack the academic maturity, don’t test well, may struggle and need to be taught how to learn. Others have a life story that lead to under performing in school but had to deal with enough adult stuff, school was the weakest link. They just need a chance at the next level to flourish.
I was a 2 sport college athlete, left HS with a 2.74 GPA and got a 21 ACT. I needed to learn how to study and mature academically myself. Went on to graduate with a Communications degree, 3.75 GPA, play pro ball, coach, and lead a very successful sales org. If we don’t have coaches at the next level to ID these kids and give them a chance, we will miss opportunities to develop ball players, but more importantly, men.
@nickstrong “Come to our Camp”. You can see if kids have the tools to play at your level. Talk to us there HS coach, Talk to Summer coaches. Most of us are honest we have a pipeline of kids we can’t afford to miss lead colleges. Especially kids you can see have some upside.
Cameron Carter (‘26, WI) cruising through 3 innings so far. FB at 87-90 & a developing power breaking ball in the upper 70’s. Projectable arm with improving feel for the stuff. #ChampionsCup#UIC commit. @PG_WiscMinn
