so a member of a band under your company got pushed till their limit because of stalkers and as a company you decide to punish HIM and do nothing to stop stalkers but instead have the other members speak up for themselves because you’re incompetent and can’t protect them ??????
the difference between the treatment of xdiz and other jype groups is insane
twice and stray kids members have gone on hiatus for mental health but they couldn’t get xdiz the clear support they needed AFTER SOMEONE BROKE INTO THE DORMS AND PLACED A TRACKER ON GUNILS CAR???????
in a standard idol group, parts can be redistributed or re-recorded, but in a live rock band, the drum is literally the heartbeat and backbone of every single song. gunil wasn't just filling a spot.. his training (esp coming from berklee), his timing, his dynamics and the energy he brought on stage set the entire foundation for xdiz. you can't just throw in a back up drummer or act like it's business as usual when the literal anchor of their sound and their leader is gone. the chemistry they built together while playing live instruments cannot be duplicated or replaced...
i'm so fvcking frustrated!!
the message makes it clear it wasn’t his decision to leave and they should have let him post it as an explanation of himself rather than sacrificing him so fucking carelessly. gunil deserves grace and he deserves so much more than this……..
in conclusion, gunil needed a safe space. a safe space he chose eventually caused him to be this way and it’s just so unfortunate and sad. i’m so sorry gunil.
first of all, this was NOT a mutual decision so fck jype for lying. and fck sasaengs. im not saying the misogynistic words were okay but i understand the frustration behind them. this fandom never treated him like a human being. he was exhausted and completely done.
at this point, i’m not going to continue supporting the group. i’m sorry, but i genuinely can’t openly support a group knowing that a member was removed by the company without even being given a proper chance to apologize or explain himself.
what gunil said was wrong. i’m not trying to excuse that. he said things out of anger and frustration that he shouldn’t have said, and he acknowledged that himself… but at the same time, these were PRIVATE conversations that he never expected to be recorded and made public. there’s a huge difference between saying something privately while venting and intentionally making those statements publicly to hurt fans.
and there’s a reason why he said that as well, he didn’t just say that just because??? he was talking about the distress he experienced from sasaengs, imagine people breaking into where they were staying, putting airtags on his car, following him, and repeatedly violating his privacy. CLEARLY i can understand how someone who was already mentally exhausted could reach a breaking point, i could’ve done much much worse, hell gunil was better than me.
rather than sending him on a rest/break from the mental burnout.. they sent him away instead,,, after all the years he spent with the company this is so unfair for him and xdiz and villains god I’m heartbroken
“although I won’t be able to fulfill the dream of performing at Wembley together with them, I will now stand one step behind them, cheering them on and supporting them so that they can someday achieve that dream”
he left berklee and the scholarship to join xdinary heroes with a dream to perform at wembley with the members and THEY BROKE THAT DREAM OF THE TEAM THEY FAILED THEM SO BAD IM SO FREAKING SAD MY XDINARY HEROES DID NOT DESERVE THIS 😭😭😭
translation of gunil's message regarding his departure on bbl:
he admitted the comments in the leaked recording were his and apologized for saying them, but clarified that they were directed at sasaengs who had harassed them and invaded their dorms recently, not villains as a whole. he also explained that he was mentally struggling at the time and had vented to someone he trusted (ex-gf), never expecting the conversation to be recorded and leaked
ive witnessed it all too. how they dreamed to be on billboard chart that was one of their early goals. and that no matter what all six of them will be there together to achieve everything they dreamed of. i fucking hate how jype handled this.
i've been here since predebut, and i had witnessed everything, all the ups and downs of xdiz, but never have i foreseen something like this would happen... i had always imagined the six of you growing old altogether and continuing to make all sorts of music that you like just as planned as xdinary heroes...
everything just quickly happened... it still feels surreal to me and i don't even know when it'll sink in 💔
gunil for sure messed up, but its nothing unsalvageable ? The way jype handled this situation is beyond pathetic and inappropriate they really didnt have to kick him out???
