Bingo! I watch it from the back and am so proud of the athletes I get the pleasure of coaching get theirs w/out all the “hype” athletes in the area that are manufactured…give me my kids all day!
We need to get away from the culture surrounding “circuit” and “open period” AAU where kids are taught that their value is tied to scholarship offers and rankings, while being surrounded by people who constantly reinforce that lie.
Some of the best SCHOLARSHIP players I’ve ever coached had very little recruiting attention early on. What separated them wasn’t hype, social media, or fake exposure - it was work ethic, consistency, toughness, and a genuine love for the game. They became great college players because they developed, not because someone marketed them.
Don’t put your future in the hands of conmen selling dreams. Don’t believe the lie that your worth is determined by “offers.” And don’t believe the adults telling you that your entire life needs to revolve around college athletics.
For many of these people, once you are no longer useful to their program, you’ll never hear from them again.
Basketball is part of life - not your entire identity. Develop your game. Be a great teammate. Take school seriously. Build discipline and character. If college basketball happens, great. But don’t let an industry built on hype convince you your value depends on it.
Our youth system is beyond broken. We’ve devalued real coaches. Kids aren’t developed, they are overtrained, burned out, forced to specialize early & pressured to win at all costs. Structural change is needed. We don’t teach the game anymore! We promote the game & it’s killing us
Our 2026 CASH BASH is scheduled for August 8th from 2pm-6pm! Tickets will be available soon! Seeking sponsors for basket raffle, large raffle items, or cash prizes! #boosters#DefendTheRock
@BobGreenburg GC just got new scoreboards for football and the gym via private funds. I am sure they won’t have a problem finding a donor for shot clocks. Also had a donor for Riddell Axiom helmets for football at about $900/ea.
Let’s go, B! A proven winner and leader who gets it done on both ends of the floor! Huge defensive performances against players committed to PSAC, MEC and A-10 programs were the catalyst for our team’s playoff run 📈🚀
