Some say cars are getting safer

They are still made of steel and weigh 1-3 tons
Regardless of powerful brakes, low speed stopping is dependent on thinking time and tyre/road friction
Physics says Kinetic Energy is proportional to speed squared

Bike lanes with trees instead of plastic bollards. Yes please! The council did a really nice job here. The street feels much nicer for pedestrians too, not just cyclists.

In 2021 we were asked to present at the Road Safety GB Festival of Road Safety on the call for a national urban/village 20mph default speed limit. It's still valid and since then the data is even clearer that 20mph reduces casualties by 20-30%. Its time for 20mph https://t.co/pRsrZmsRsI

What's even more scary than anyone being allowed to ride a bicycle on the road is that the government has deemed people like this are allowed to drive large, fast and heavy motor vehicles on the road.
