⚽ Harrison Afful 🇬🇭: Feyenoord Said No ❌, Stabæk Said No ❌, Ghana Youth Teams Said No ❌ — The Boy From Nungua Who Conquered Three Continents Anyway 🌍🔥
They kept rejecting him for being too small.
Feyenoord's academy said no. Helsingborgs said no. Mamelodi Sundowns said no. Ghana's own youth teams cut him, repeatedly. Every system that was supposed to say yes told him to go home.
So he went to Tunisia instead. And 4,000 kilometres from Nungua, Harrison Afful scored the only goal across two legs of the CAF Champions League Final. Four Tunisian league titles. Then he crossed another ocean at 29 and became the best right-back in MLS history. 84 caps for the Black Stars. A World Cup. Nearly two decades at the top.
He once said he never gave up because he knew the talent was there, even when nobody else did.
He was right. Today, we celebrate Harrison Afful!
