Colombia cuts diplomatic ties with Iran

Colombia has formally severed diplomatic relations with Iran, effective September 19, the Colombian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Colombia cited national and hemispheric security concerns and the fight against transnational crime, while making a series of allegations against Iran.

The ministry stressed that consular relations will remain in place despite the diplomatic rupture.

Araghchi urges Europe to abandon its destructive approach towards Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on European governments to abandon their "destructive and irresponsible" approach towards Iran and regional developments during a meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to a statement from Araghchi's office, the two ministers discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

Araghchi attributed insecurity in the region and the Strait of Hormuz to "military aggression" by the US and Israel, with the support and complicity of some European governments, which he said had inflicted significant damage on Iran, the region and the world.

Araghchi said lasting regional security depends on ending the Israeli occupation and realizing the Palestinian people's legitimate rights, particularly their right to self-determination.

Xi used to wear an upright collar/Mandarin collar Zhongshan suit (Mao suit).

Now he wears the classic flip collar Zhongshan suit. Most famously worn by Sun Yat Sen and Chairman Mao.

Before President Xi, there were no specific state banquet attire for men for the Chinese delegates. Most used wear the business suit and tie.

**Pezeshkian: “Our Money in China Is Blocked”**

Iranian President **Masoud Pezeshkian** says one of Tehran’s major economic problems is that **Iranian funds held in China are effectively blocked**, making it difficult for Iran to access its own money.

He argued that Iran cannot freely withdraw funds from a country to which it has supplied goods, let alone use that money to pay for imports or transactions elsewhere.

The remarks highlight how **sanctions, banking restrictions and payment channels** can complicate even transactions between countries that maintain close economic relations.

**Selling the goods is one thing. Getting paid—and actually using the money—is apparently the harder part.**
