There are many ways a body and mind may respond to a trauma, beyond just fight or flight. Never blame a victim for not responding the way you think they should. Remember the big three:
✅ You didn’t deserve this
✅ It’s not your fault
✅ How can I help
@21stTSC@USArmyEURAF
Sexual assault survivors and their family and fellow Soldiers may not understand our body’s unconscious & automatic reactions to a traumatic experience. This can lead to self-blame or victim-blaming. Less known trauma reactions include fight, flight, freeze, collapse, or fawn.
In the aftermath of sexual trauma, self-care may be hard. Some places to start are healthy sleeping, eating, exercising, and keeping a regular routine. Learn more: https://t.co/S5TDk5BpbB
