Oh I forgot to add, this is what our route looked like if anyone else wants to venture to India. Be careful of the winds around Cape Verde!

The journey did allow for both parties to partake in cultural blending with both cultures. This allowed for Portuguese affect in Indian cuisine and vice versa.

I think that Portugal has benefited from this journey way more than India. We have saved a lot of Money on Indian trade goods and have found countries in Africa that have potential for us to take control over. However we have created competition with other European countries.

It has been two months since my journey to India and looking back I fear we have made life worse for the Indians. By opening up their borders to the rest of Europe we have placed India in a vulnerable position. Their resources will deplete and they may be colonized easier.

Unfortunately we have only returned with 55 men due to losses from scurvy and the weather. Thank you to all the men who we have lost.

Today we rounded the Cape Verde again, however our ship 'São Gabriel' got separated from the 'Berrio' and the Store Ship.

We decided to stop in Malindi because the scurvy has gotten so bad we need to make pit stop and see what our next steps would be.

In between the Monsoons and the on growing scurvy sickness this vessel is like a deathtrap!

We have also learned that they are not Christian but Hindu and there are Muslims on his court. I was right, they lack higher faith.

I have sad news, yesterday the King of India called us before him to present the gifts we had gotten them. We presented them and he found they were insufficient and not worth it. They have asked us to leave :(

We have been trading non-stop since we got here! Look at all of the spices I have acquired:

The Indians seem to have accepted us graciously and have allowed us to stay for a while. The Captain thinks of them as good Christians as we are but I fear he is wrong...

After almost a year sailing across the ocean we are finally setting foot on Indian soil.
