In my opinion, the conquest of the Mactan tribe brought many benefits and problems to both sides. The Mactan tribes gained access to new knowledge and technology, and strove for independence and their own culture. (1/2)

Looking back to our #voyage I start to reflect to what extent Magellan's arrival in the Philippines and interaction with the Mactan tribe in the early 15th century created opportunities and threats for both the Spanish and the Mactan tribe?

We completed the circumnavigation after sailing 69 thousands kilometers in three years (without a couple of days). Look at our route, isn’t it #impressive? Such a shame, Magellan did not return.

September 8th - we made it! Victory!! Out of 5 ships #only Victoria managed to return. After all she is called Victoria!

September 6th - we are back at Sanlúcar de Barrameda, so close to Seville!

Spring was spent crossing the Indian Ocean. We reached the Cape of Good Hope on May 22 and continued towards Santiago, Cape Verde.

January 21st - we reached Timor. We #bought there sandalwood, honey and wax.

New Year…it is already 1522… are we going to get back home this year?

We had to leave Trinidad for repairs in Tidore. We set off in the last remaining ship - Victoria.

November 8th, 1521. We arrived at the Moluccas islands, more precisely in Tidore.

We sailed to Mindanau, Mapun, Palawan and Brunei.

May 2nd. We have to transport all the goods from the Conception ship as we do not have enough crew to continue the voyage on 3 ships. Today we are going to burn Conception. Only Victoria and Trinidad will continue the #voyage.

May 1st, at a local banquet Barbosa (voted co-commander 3 days ago) and 27 members of crew were #killed.

We set off to the island of Zubu where we met tribes that ate #dogs and #cats. Can you believe it?

But our #journey is going to continue. This is what Magellan would wish. And we need to get back to Spain to share with the king what we have discovered.
