🎚️ 5 types of reverbs for vocals.

• Hall
• Plate
• Room
• Chambers
• Convolution

In this thread, we are going to talk about what's the difference between those and when to use each one.

1. Hall Reverb:

• Simulates the acoustics of a large concert hall, providing a long decay and a lush, expansive sound.
• Apply hall reverb to add depth and sustain to vocals, making them sound rich and enveloping. In any genre.

A lot of times it's used like additional reverb.

2. Plate Reverb:

• Emulates the sound of a metal plate vibrating, known for its bright, dense, and smooth sound.
• Use plate reverb to add sheen and sustain to vocals, particularly effective for lead vocals and background harmonies. Works great in Pop, Rock and R&B.

3. Chamber Reverb:

• Simulates the sound of a small to medium-sized room with reflective surfaces, providing a natural, versatile reverb.
• Apply chamber reverb to create a sense of space without overwhelming the vocal. Works great in jazz, classical and acoustic music.

4. Room Reverb:

• Mimics the sound of a small to medium-sized room, offering a short to medium decay time with a warm and natural ambiance.
• Use room reverb to add a subtle sense of space and warmth, keeping vocals upfront and clear. Works great in Rap, Pop, R&B.

5. Convolution Reverb:

• Uses impulse responses (recorded samples of real acoustic spaces) to recreate the exact reverb characteristics of those spaces.
• Apply convolution reverb to match the vocal reverb to a particular environment, in any genre.

Of course we will break it down on video in details inside my vocal mixing course. You will learn how to use every type of reverb and build deep, complex spaces for the vocals in your mixes. In different genres.
