Breaking: DC Court of Appeals just denied Daron Wint a new trial. He'd appealed his conviction in the 2015 killings of Amy, Savvas, Philip Savopoulos, and Vera Figueroa on the basis his attorney should've been able to call an additional witness. 1/2
The appeals court acknowledged Judge Juliet McKenna 'should have allowed' Wint's defense to present the witness, but "the weight of other overwhelming evidence" against Wint "rendered any error by the trial court in denying surrebuttal harmless."

Here we go. A three judge panel is hearing Daron Wint’s appeal this morning. These are the filings from both the defense and prosecution. This appeal is why we couldn’t talk to the attorneys or Daron for the podcast.

@emilybethc @ClohertyWTOP Hi Emily - I don't think they found a cc transaction (could have been a gift card or cash). It was just the cup that proved she went. What's also interesting, they couldn't say which Starbucks she went to - one near Philip's drs office or one the prosecution said she walked to

MT Remember the song 'Haters Hate'? It's our theme song & served as part of Daron Wint's brother's alibi. Wint's attorneys have appealed his conviction. They say the judge improperly blocked a witness' testimony which could have called Darrell's whereabouts into question
