Xi Jinping marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People:
The fundamental way out of the current crisis is to establish an independent Palestinian state enjoying full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and ensure the right of the Palestinian people to statehood, their right to existence and their right of return.
China has always been a staunch supporter of the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, and has always supported all Palestinian factions in strengthening unity and implementing the Beijing Declaration on Ending Division and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity to realise internal reconciliation.

“If even a small percentage of what the United States allocates to war were instead dedicated to building peace and fostering development, it would address the underlying causes of human mobility.”
—Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico’s new President, fired back at U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in a statement today. She suggested that Mexico would retaliate with its own tariffs after Trump blamed Mexico for the flow of drugs and migrants across the border and threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Mexican goods. She also addressed Trump’s threat to deport “millions of illegals,” a term he uses for undocumented immigrants.
➤ Sheinbaum’s full response is in the linked tweet below. Here are some excerpts that stood out to us:
“Dear President-elect Donald Trump,
I am writing to you regarding your statement on Monday, November 25, concerning migration, fentanyl trafficking, and tariffs.”
“If even a small percentage of what the United States allocates to war were instead dedicated to building peace and fostering development, it would address the underlying causes of human mobility.”
“You must also be aware of the illegal trafficking of firearms into my country from the United States.
Seventy percent of the illegal weapons seized from criminals in Mexico come from your country. We do not produce these weapons, nor do we consume synthetic drugs. Tragically, it is in our country that lives are lost to the violence resulting from meeting the drug demand in yours.”
“President Trump, migration and drug consumption in the United States cannot be addressed through threats or tariffs. What is needed is cooperation and mutual understanding to tackle these significant challenges.”
Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum: "If even a small percentage of what the United States allocates to war were instead dedicated to building peace and fostering development, it would address the underlying causes of human mobility."

NEW: Senior Hamas Official Osama Hamdan Supports Ceasefire Agreement in Lebanon
“Any announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon is welcomed, as Hezbollah has stood by our people and made great sacrifices,” Hamdan said in an interview with Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen earlier today.
The remarks are significant because Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated in September and set the war plans currently being implemented, had described Gaza and Lebanon as a united front, but also emphasized that Hezbollah would take its lead from the Palestinian resistance. Hamdan, as a senior Hamas official, is in a strong position to articulate the group’s stance.
Hamdan in the interview also discussed Israel’s genocide in Gaza and Gaza’s future governance. Here’s more from the conversation:
➤ On internal Palestinian affairs, he announced the success of the Cairo meeting with the Fatah movement in reaching an agreement on a framework to form a committee to manage Gaza’s affairs. He noted that Hamas’ position is for a national unity government to be formed to oversee Palestinian affairs, but “this has not been agreed upon.”
➤ On ceasefire talks in Gaza, Hamdan said Israel “wants to return its captives and force the Resistance to surrender before deciding whether it wants to stop its aggression or not, whereas the Resistance is trying to strategically protect its people, by eliminating this entity and ensuring the safety and peace of the region.”
➤ Addressing rumors of a fracturing relationship between Hamas and Qatar—fueled by Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s claims that Qatar has asked Hamas to leave the country—Hamdan stated: “We assert that our relationship with Qatar is deeper than what the occupation tries to portray.”
While the number of people crossing the border increased exponentially since Trump’s wall went up a new study reveals an 86% reduction in wildlife crossings. At well over $20 million a mile, Trump’s wall is both a wastefully expensive tactical failure & an ecological disaster.
