हमें 50℃ में भी गाँवों में चौबीस घंटे बिजली मिल रही है, फ़्रांस जैसा विकसित देश 40℃ से कम में ही टें बोल रहा है। नदी का पानी गर्म हो गया तो दक्षिण-पश्चिम फ़्रांस में एक परमाणु रिएक्टर तक बंद करना पड़ा।

और सुनिए, रेल पटरियाँ मुड़ रही हैं गर्मी के कारण। ब्रिटेन, जर्मनी और स्विट्जरलैंड रेल सेवाएँ रद्द की जा रही हैं। भारत में कोई असर नहीं है। हमारे यहाँ प्रतिदिन 25 हजार रेलगाड़ियाँ दौड़ लगा रही हैं, गर्मी के कारण कहीं एक पैसेंजर ट्रेन तक रद्द नहीं हुई है। इसीलिए, इतनी बड़ी जनसंख्या और इतना विशाल व विविध राष्ट्र होने के बावजूद जिस तरह से स्थितियों क सँभाला जाता है, उसके लिए व्यवस्था को धन्यवाद भी कहना सीखिए।

स्पेन ने चेताया है कि आने वाले दिनों में गर्मी से मौतों की संख्या बढ़ सकती है। शिक्षा और परिवहन से लेकर पूरा दैनिक जीवन बाधित है। 38 डिग्री सेल्सियस पर ही वहाँ बीमारियाँ शुरू हो गई हैं।

इटली में इसी हफ्ते गर्मी ने 5 लोगों की जान ले ली है। फ्रांस में 40 लोगों के डूबने की ख़बर आपने देखी ही होगी। लगभग यूरोप के सारे देश अलर्ट जारी कर रहे हैं। असली बात तो ये है कि ये यूरोपियन गर्मी के मौसम के हिसाब से ढले हुए ही नहीं हैं। ब्रिटेन और फ़्रांस में तो अधिकर इमारतों में AC तक की सुविधा नहीं है।

क्या भारत सरकार ने कभी मौसम के कारण ईंधन के दाम बढ़ाए हैं? नहीं न। यूरोप में ऐसा हो रहा है। वहाँ की ऊर्जा व्यवस्था चरमरा गई है। बिजली उत्पादन कम हो गया है, बिजली महँगी हो गई है। जर्मनी में कुछ ही घंटों में बिजली की क़ीमत 86 यूरो प्रति मेगावाट-घंटे से बढ़कर 566 यूरो प्रति मेगावाट-घंटे हो गई। सोचिए, भारत में साल-दो साल पर बिजली के दाम एकाध रुपए बढ़ जाएँ तो बड़ी ख़बर हो जाती है, जर्मनी में ऐसा हो रहा है। ध्रुव राठी वहीं बैठा है, कुछ नहीं बोलेगा।

यूरोप का बुनियादी ढाँचा गर्मी के लिए बना ही नहीं है। सोचिए, अगर भारत जितनी गर्मी वहाँ पड़ने वाली तो इन विकसित राष्ट्रों का क्या हाल होगा!
