@Polyversalis The cast is basically the entire current Japanese film industry, but there's one face I hope you recognize, they contribute very slyly to the overall vibe in a way I don't want to spoil. You will likely enjoy this very much, you should probably just buy it.

@Polyversalis Regardless of dub/sub you will be hit with a ton of on-screen text. It is intentionally overwhelming, just roll with it, it's part of the joke. It's a very good movie that casts the Japanese bureaucracy as its collective protagonist. Baller move.

@Polyversalis In all fairness the movie's main problem is that it's just way too much movie, with no space for the big crazy ideas to settle in and endless spectacle with little to no connective tissue. Like they plotted out a trilogy but tried to cram it in all at once.

People complain about "bite-size" Halloween candy portions but sometimes that's just the right size for a good yarn. The trick is to just eat the whole bag for variety.

@benito_cereno The eternal struggle: should I watch SATANTANGO (supposed to be good!) or watch DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN, BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, THE OLD DARK HOUSE, THE MUMMY *and* THE INVISIBLE MAN? One of these days I'll be brave enough to not choose quantity.

@Realreeldoofs Look that's a pretty good mix: a Soviet-era folk horror, a well-respected but still off-the-beaten-path thriller, a big crowd-pleasing roller coaster ride, and the unrelenting horror of male toxicity, the scariest thing ever.
