@CheyneJoness Who is comparing Rihanna to dead Bob Marley? Jamaica didn't make him a hero while he was alive, but instead made it off his name as much as they can. Rihanna has done more for her country than Marley did for Jamaica, so back-off. Yes, it is hate your are feeling. That is typical.
53 years ago today.
One week after my 5th birthday.
You were gone.
Assassinated for answering a call to conscience, for speaking truth to power, for being a drum major for justice who sought to rid the world of racism, militarism and poverty.
I miss you. Still. Always.
♥️🦄♥️ This will probably sound too sentimental... but whether you found Adam on Idol, recently, or during the years in between, I just want to say how happy I am for you to have this amazing unicorn with a heart of gold bringing good things into your life. We are SO very lucky!!
Well people, anything goes from this day onwards. Mitch McConnell needs to sign into a nursing home with his pampers in hand. #TheTurtleHasBecomeAsnake.
so please, miss me with the “shocked” and “disgusted” tweets from white celebrities who act as though they never took a history course.
if you need clarity, read this back slowly:
the country you stan and miss so badly was built on slavery, theft, violence and marginalization.
from age 5, we are required to pledge allegiance to a land that has no allegiance to any of us. we swear loyalty by reciting a shitty poem full of lies. we’re manipulated into loving “our” country.
historically, it’s never been ours.
my problem with america (well, one of my problems) is that it’s built on a mentality of false superiority. thinking that your country is “the best” is not patriotism, it’s nationalism. and it’s false.
we are no better than everyone else, despite how grateful you are to be here.
