Why is Norway's oil demand still significant?

As gasoline only accounts for 25% of oil consumption, electric vehicles do not have a significant impact on oil demand immediately.

in 2021, UBS said that while gasoline demand was down 34% over ten years in Norway, diesel was up 7%.

They also said that LPG/Ethane increased by 46% over the decade and Gasoil increased by 20%.

Oil plays a critical part in industrial applications and producing petrochemical feedstocks to make plastics, rubber, chemicals, and other products.

What does the future of energy look like?

Oil and Gas still plays a significant role in the world today and will for the foreseeable future.

Renewables will continue to take marketshare in power generation and will pair nicely with electric vehicles in residential applications.

At some point, this will lead to peak demand for gasoline, however total demand for oil will continue to increase over the next couple of decades.

As society discovers new technological innovations, we will continue to increase our energy demand to propel society forward.

Things like artificial intelligence, bitcoin mining, space exploration etc. will require a lot of energy and this is a good thing!
