Today is the fifth circuit breaker on the KOSPI this year.
For those who do not know what that is, let me explain.
A circuit breaker is an automatic trading halt.
When the index falls 8% in a session, the Korea Exchange freezes all trading for 20 minutes to stop a panic from feeding on itself.
Fall 15% and it halts again. Fall 20% and the day is over. It is a pressure valve, not a verdict on the businesses.
The reason it keeps hitting the KOSPI comes down to one thing. Samsung and SK Hynix make up roughly half the entire index.
When the two memory giants drop double digits, they drag the whole market into breaker territory almost by themselves.
But here is the pattern that is interesting.
After every one of these halts this year, the market bounced. After the March breakers it rallied 60% to a new high. The day after June 8, it jumped nearly 5%.
Even with todayโs drop, the KOSPI is still up around 90% on the year, the best performing market on earth.
Halts are noise. The memory shortage is still real and the makers are still sold out.

Hello,
We asked for a refund over a month ago and still no response on online form. I also asked around on email and I just keep getting a response to allow 30 days, which passed already.
@TMFanSupport Hi, I have two issues
1) everytime when I want to log in, I have to change my password
2) once password is changed, it asks me to verify my phone number also. The problem is that I (neither my mother nor my sister) dont get the code.
Trump (and right wingers in Britain & EU) often claim that the USA economy outperforms โscleroticโ Europe.
