I hold the gom jabbar at your throat young millennial. Keep your hand in the box and continue working. Remove it…and also continue working.
Steps to become a 21st century auteur:
•Make a movie about your childhood but say it isn’t.
•Become a fixture of the festival circuit.
•Revive a forgotten/maligned genre.
•Trash Marvel.
1 semester: 1 yr of course development; 12 weeks of instruction; 15+ hrs prep/week; 1612 mins of MCU film/TV; 30 mins of video tutorial; 175 PowerPoint slides; 350 emails; 400 pages of marking; countless hrs of website setup/maintenance; 1 elaborate inside joke; 5 days in an ICU.
What in the actual hell is going on at Toronto Public Library? I mean "Adult DVDs" is a phrase you probably want to stay away from, but "Puppies & Murder"? Is there an entire genre that involves dogs wielding kitchen knives of which I wasn't aware? https://t.co/YknuG6EpQP
@mandaloriain I guess I must be really underqualified to teach the undergraduate course I created on the MCU for the biggest university in Canada. Oh well.
I long for the days when adding a comma to a paper I was marking wasn’t a 5-step process. There’s been a lot of focus on added prep time for online courses, but everything seems to require more time/effort. Has anyone been tracking these "hidden" time costs?

Apparently, there's a reddit thread on my course and I'm not sure what to do with that information. Never quite managed to internet-proof my self-esteem.

Now that I have to pick a background for online teaching, I slightly regret nicknaming the cable news pundits after the stuff in their houses. Will it be Rainbow Painting or Coffee Machine talking about COVID-19 today?
UofT Arts & Sciences (finally) making a decision about online instruction. Sadly necessary.
Hey @MarvelStudios any chance you'll donate HD movie rentals to my students?
So, Netflix customer service basically just told me that if I want to show an episode of Daredevil in my #MCU course I should give 40 undergraduate students access to my personal account. Hard pass.
My whole life in Toronto I’ve never seen a blue jay. But this morning there were 3 outside my window. As a firm believer in bird-related augury, I’m going to take that as a good sign. #WeAreBlueJays#MLBPostseason

Having gotten the smallest glimpse of the difficulties involved, I don’t envy the people who had to make these decisions but neither can I imagine what it’s going to be like for 1st year students in the fall.
The @UofTArtSci Timetable is now available at: https://t.co/gpIuGSv93c. Use the Timetable to make a draft schedule. And follow the steps on the Course Enrolment page (https://t.co/gx9Mh0I4R7) to enrol in your courses at your start time.
I won't say we're all in this together because that's bull. This is going to be harder for some students than others for a whole host of reasons. Whatever we do is just not going to be enough for some. But still, if you need help ask for it.
So some reminders for undergrads: @UofT students have access to mental health resources; if you’re struggling academically talk to your TAs/instructors/professors; there are librarians that can help with research and registrar staff to advise you on a whole range of other things.
