On this day, we honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 – and pay tribute to the fire fighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. We will never forget.

Two adults were rescued from the waters of Long Pond in Ayer on Aug 28th. A good outcome, but a reminder to always wear life jackets when on the water!

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new apparatus to the fleet! You may have seen the new Medic 1 unit around town over the last week or two, and it is now officially in service and responding to emergency calls.

We will be conducting joint training with the Lifeguards at Sandy Pond Beach from 7:00 until approximately 9:00 tonight, 7/9.

This will include rescuers in the water, boats being deployed, and fire apparatus/ambulances in the area. This is only a drill, there is no emergency.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for most of Southern New England except the Berkshires. Heat impacts are expected Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. Heat index values will be near 100 degrees Sunday and rise to around 105-110 degrees Monday and Tuesday.
