@timeymimie also here's a few more recs along similar lines:
Arovane - Lilies
Mouse On Mars - Autoditacker
Mรบm - Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today Is OK
Mira Calix - Skimskitta
Ochre - Like Dust Of The Balance
Trifonic - Emergence
@gadbored@misterminsoo The Black Dog have been putting out so much stuff lately that I think it can be hard for people to keep up with, but it's all been quality imo. Loud Ambient 2 is one of my favorite albums of this year so far
@timeymimie@misterminsoo I would recommend Rumpistol's "Dynamo" if you haven't heard it before, very very close to what TTA did imo https://t.co/xAbQA0dPOR
for anyone who wants a great intro to IDM outside of Boards of Canada, Aphex, Autechre - this article by @laurent_fintoni opened my eyes to America's contribution to glitchy electronic music.
mentions of the scene that birthed Richard Devine, TTV, Machinedrum, Phoenecia, etc.
@dnglai03@NotRealMusic I like talking about the quality of music, it's a subjective thing that varies from person to person and can be argued in a fun low-stakes way
using sales numbers and those kinds of metrics to make your case in that discussion takes all the fun out of it imo
@mykectown I mean, tbf, when I saw it in the theater the audience reaction was quite good
then immediately after everyone left the theater and people had to actually think about what they just watched people were like "waaaaait a minute none of that made any sense"
