Occasionally the Pirates will just invent a player mid season.
Maybe this guy worked in the front office, or perhaps at the crab fries stand.
Who the hell is this?
ROSTER MOVES: Today we placed OF Oneil Cruz on the 10-day injured list (left hand fourth and fifth metacarpal non-displaced fractures), retroactive to Monday (June 8), and recalled OF Billy Cook from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Skenes Night: He’s due. So here’s the deal. If Paul strikes out 9 or more. Like he did the last time he faced the Dodgers. And the Buccos win. I’ll give away 5 Paul Skenes jerseys. Just follow me. And retweet this post. And you’re good. Let’s go Bucs!

The Athletics are 15th in the MLB in converting Save opportunities (63.3%), an average team at doing so.
If the Pirates converted 63.3% of their Save opportunities, they would be 37-25.
If they matched the best Save percentage in baseball right now (HOU) they would be 42-20.
A 9-5 lead with two outs in the eighth inning.
And they are going to lose.
This will be at least the fifth game this year where they've had a win probability of 88% or higher in the 8th inning or later that they've lost.
Pathetic.
25 Save Opportunities. 12 Saves. 13 Blown Saves. This needs to be addressed ASAP. Call people up. Make trades. Sign free agents. Something. It’s ruined the season so far. If we didn’t blow those games, we’d be 46-16. Instead we are 33-29
MLB wastes no time responding to union chief Bruce Meyer:
‘Our salary cap and floor proposal addresses our fans’ concerns by leveling the playing field while sharing baseball revenue with the players 50/50 like the other leagues. Under our proposal, Major League players will receive more compensation in year one of the system than in 2026. We are ready to listen if the MLBPA wants to counter our proposal at the bargaining table.”
