@Butlrr@petbugs13 Car accidents in the US are a leading cause of death; by your logic we should just make the test harder to pass until nobody dies, by then the test is too hard to pass and everybody just rides bikes. That's the logic equivalent I'm hearing.
I thought we were being serious.
@Butlrr@petbugs13 I like that you argued "semantics" like you know exactly what all people need. The second thing you said is non-sense and the third part is stupid as hell- "if people still die" what, anybody? What is the metric? Rifles account for <5% of US gun deaths annually, including LE. 1%?
@Butlrr@petbugs13 Seeing that the world economy would collapse and China would be the only superpower left standing, you're right, it would need to be apocalypse level important.
@Butlrr@petbugs13 AR-15 is not an assault rifle.
Assault rifles are automatic weapons.
Civilians do not need automatic weapons.
Feel free to take assault rifles, but do not punish the 99.9999999% for the misdeeds of the .00000001% the government refuses to background check.
Too dangerous? Wot
@Butlrr@petbugs13 A law shift that abrupt in itself would likely cause a violent fracture in the US, likely a revolution that splits the country into fragments. Sheriffs departments and local law enforcement agencies would refuse to enforce said laws, states would band together- it'd get ugly fast
@Butlrr@petbugs13 I could care less about upsetting a bunch of rich dudes, I just think it's crazy to decimate the rights of millions of law abiding citizens instead of at least attempting to install a more thorough background/psych check.
Middle ground gun guy, weird right?
@Butlrr@petbugs13 "People who have had their rights guaranteed hundreds of years ago will shoot people that come to take their rights." Sounds like our forefathers were thinking ahead.
It's a fantastic idea on paper but it wouldn't stop anything and would never happen.
@Butlrr@petbugs13 Feel free to take their automatic assault weapons, nobody needs that. I'm just saying- reinstating the ban won't change anything in the big picture.
@petbugs13 Meanwhile our society is over prescribed, people are depressed at an all time rate, the media sensationalizes everything and there are no background checks.
But you think it has to do with a classification of guns that cost >$15k and take months to get ahold of.
@petbugs13 Please, show me a case where a military issue rifle has been used in a mass shooting. M4, 416, FAL, AK74- anything but a pistol or an AR-15 because that's a civilian rifle. Please, tell me exactly how the assault rifle ban has directly affected the spike in mass shootings.
@Butlrr@petbugs13 Again, learn the difference between an assault rifle and a civilian rifle. Assault rifles cost >$15k, require extremely thorough checking by the ATF, take months to get ahold of and require a tax stamp that has to be renewed every few years. Rich collectors aren't mass shooters.
@petbugs13 What, you think you can't contact reps from other states and pretend you live there? That's lazy.
How many people on earth have you seen be angry and not curse and maintain composure? Aren't you the person that just spammed GIFs to avoid discussion/being corrected?
@petbugs13 I'd be willing to bet you haven't even thought about contacting a representative to bother them about voting on HR8, or that you even know what the bill is. Making up graphics on Twitter is way easier than advocating for real change.
@Steve_Smith24@zac_goodman@Hockey_Robinson@petbugs13 Whatever, at least I'm advocating for change instead of waving my arms and shouting misinformation on social media. And you still haven't called a rep about background checks.
