Gao Xiaoxian, #TheEarlySpring producer revealed how the team cast #JingBoran and #Sunqian and also shared some behind the scene story.
Sun Qian, who was overwhelmingly chosen by netizens as their ideal Shang Zhitao, has Tao Tao’s tall appearance, resilient personality, and a high degree of compatibility with the character. Jing Boran was the team’s first choice for Luan Nian. They felt that his appearance, temperament and presence conveyed an exceptionally intelligent aura that was difficult to find elsewhere in the Chinese entertainment industry. He had exactly the quality of “the most stylish man in Beijing” that Luan Nian required.
“Casting needs to fit the character, but actors also need to have the acting ability. Modern romance dramas are actually very difficult to perform.“The most important criterion isn’t ‘Who looks the most like the character described in the novel?’ A thousand readers have a thousand Hamlets, so it’s impossible to satisfy everyone. What the team really needs to find is someone who can make the audience believe that these two people’s inner struggles are real.”
Before Jing Boran joined the production, Gao Xiaoxian warned him that Luan Nian was not a perfect character.
After reading the script, Jing Boran said that he wasn't afraid of playing a character with many flaws. He liked playing complicated people.
Gao Xiaoxian was delighted when she heard this, because she knew just how difficult it actually was to perform a modern romance drama.
On the first day of filming, Jing Boran walked out wearing a suit and sunglasses. Everyone immediately felt like Luke had come to life. His aura of “do not approach me” was incredibly strong.
Sometimes Gao Xiaoxian would also approach things from the perspective of a female viewer, telling Jing Boran what women wanted to see and what they would not accept.
Jing Boran would often exclaim, “The modern romance drama world is way too difficult for you guys!” And yet, the very next day, he would quietly show a new adjustment in his performance.
During the first month of filming, after every scene, Jing Boran and Sun Qian wouldn't immediately return to their dressing rooms. Instead, they would come over to the monitors and discuss the characters with Gao Xiaoxian and the director.
Even though the script was already extremely detailed, with the emotional nuances and meanings behind the characters’ motivations all clearly described, they would still keep digging deeper.
After almost every take, Jing Boran would ask on set:
“Is it greasy? Am I being too greasy?”
The girls would encourage him:
“It’s perfect.”
He transformed Luke’s harshness into restraint, demanding standards and emotional reserve. That was what eventually allowed audiences to simultaneously curse Luan Nian and adore him.
The Early Spring was the first mainland Chinese drama to systematically incorporate intimacy coordination into its production process. During the early preparation stage, when Gao Xiaoxian was discussing how to film intimate scenes with the director, the director told her that Netflix had a position specifically dedicated to this.
“I was quite curious about this role, so I asked the producer to invite Ms. Cai [Cai Jiayin]. She has an acting background and understands actors’ psychology very well.“Before intimate scenes are filmed, she communicates with the actors in advance and confirms their boundaries. She works with them to choreograph and design the movements and blocking, and then supervises the scene on set.”
Of course, the actors’ own deep understanding of the script was equally important.
Gao Xiaoxian gave the example of the scene where Luan Nian takes a drunk Shang Zhitao home. It was filmed quite early after production began, before the intimacy coordinator had joined the set, yet the actors performed it extremely well.
After it aired, viewers praised Sun Qian for being incredibly captivating and Jing Boran for having such intense chemistry.

#SunQian said that Shang Zhitao is basically her being written into the script, also revealed why she couldnt stop crying during proposal scene in #TheEarlySpring BTS and shared a beautiful message for girls who feel insecure in a relationship: “Fall madly in love with yourself.” 🥹 🥹
“When I was reading the script, I found out that she was a girl from Harbin and then there was also the fact that she was a beipiao (t/n: people who leave their hometowns to live and work in Beijing). I honestly felt like… this was basically me being written into the script. I could barely tell the difference between the character and myself because there were so many similarities between us. Sometimes, the only differences were that I came to Beijing a little earlier, started dancing and doing things like that, and started going out on my own in the city earlier”
“For the proposal scene, I told Jing-ge, I’ve never been to a wedding before. I’m really not into this kind of thing. I don’t think it’s that interesting. And Jing-ge was like, Really? Actually, if you attended a wedding, you’d probably cry the whole time.
I said, No way. That would be way too performative and sentimental. And putting these huge photos of the two people up everywhere? How awkward would that be? Then we started filming Jing-ge’s shots. He said, Shang Zhitao, welcome to the museum of time. And I was just crying uncontrollably. There were photos of her friends, her dog, and then he took out the ring. And the ring was actually our producer’s own ring! after finishing that scene that day, I just felt… it was so beautiful. I thought, I really have to find someone I absolutely love and marry them.
“What I want to tell girls is that you need to have a really strong sense of self-worth. You have to truly believe in yourself and think. If every girl could really internalize that and carry it in her heart, she would be able to have a better relationship with herself, find a better kind of love and a better partner. Fall madly in love with yourself. Believe that you’re amazing. Then, when you look at other people, you won’t have to look away. When you talk to someone, you won’t be worrying about whether you look pretty today or thinking. Only when you have enough confidence can you fully bring out your own charm. your presence becomes stronger and reaches further. In a relationship, you won’t constantly be anxious and insecure about whether you’re going to lose the other person.”

Sun Qian on Embracing Every Emotion: “It’s Proof That You Still Deeply Love This World”
“I see a lot of people online saying that they hope they can keep their emotions stable.
But I think having tears, having emotional ups and downs, is proof that you still deeply love this world.
It means you’re living life with so much enthusiasm and that you’re especially passionate about everything around you.
I really like emotions like that. I think there’s something captivating about people who let themselves feel.
Whether you’re happy or unhappy today, whether you’re angry or whatever you might be feeling—

Sun Qian on Finally Being Seen Through The Early Spring
“This is the first time I’ve received such intense attention from everyone. Seeing people love my character the way I do—perhaps even more than I do—and look closely at and magnify every detail of my character is an enormous encouragement to me.”
The interviewer then asked:
“Before you encountered Taotao, had you also been waiting all this time for a role like this?”
Sun Qian replied:
“I don’t know which role would become that kind of role for me. I really love every character I’ve ever played.
It was only after The Early Spring, when Shang Zhitao was seen by everyone, that I truly experienced this feeling.
I’m very happy.”
[She pauses, trying to hold back her tears.]
“And afterward, I saw people going back and discovering the characters I had played before as well. I’m also very happy.”
[Her voice catches slightly as she holds back tears.]
“It felt as though they—the audience—had become a kind of strength for me, giving me a little push forward.
And with that push, I felt I had even more strength to keep moving forward and to continue walking this path as an actor.”
— Sun Qian, on the audience response to Shang Zhitao in The Early Spring (早春晴朗)

Ngedrakor via nonton dramanya❌
Ngedrakor via baca blog✅
Ada yang pernah rasain juga?
Ngedrakor tahun 2008-2012an itu susah banget aksesnya..
Cara paling cepet biar ga penasaran episode selanjutnya tuh biasanya baca blog dulu😭
Langkah terakhir, kalau suka banget drakornya.
i know the actual distance between venus and the crescent moon tonight is millions of miles and yet the sky makes them look as though they could almost be held within the same gesture. i wonder if they know they’ve been made into a little scene by people standing beneath them
not goodbye, just see you again someday. thank you for this beautiful era, Jing Boran & Sun Qian.
