Here is an unreal occurance in today's @Marlins @Cubs game. Jesus Sanchez is internationally walked, but he never goes to first base before leaving for Christian Pache. The Cubs appealed the play and Pache was ruled out 13.

Rule 9.07(b)(7) says if a batter refuses to take first on a walk, the putout is 2U. The issue is this isn't refusal ... he just didn't touch.

So, unless MLB figures something different, this will be Pache out 13 on appeal while standing on first base for Sanchez not touching first. For now, Sanchez is credited with a walk, and Julian Merryweather with issuing an intentional walk, but is it a walk if you never touch first?

I can tell you I don't think the Marlins or Cubs had ever see this, and I'm not sure MLB or @EliasSports has either. I sure haven't. You would think touching first on a walk wouldn't be that difficult.

You really can see something you've never seen before in this game.
