NEW: American Nathan Martin wins the closest Los Angeles Marathon in race history, beating Kenya’s Michael Kimani Kamau by just 00.01 seconds.
Martin was seen chasing down Kamau at the end of the race.
“I made an actual move five miles out… when I saw no one else was picking up the pace. I decided I needed to push,” the 36-year-old said.
“At a mile and a half to go, I could see the leader and with 800 meters to go, I was thinking, ‘I’m catching him.’”
Martin finished the race with a time of 2 hours, 11 minutes, 16.50 seconds.

Cardinal Raymond Burke said today he has conveyed his hope to Pope Leo XIV that the Holy Father will end the "persecution from within the Church" of "those who desired and to worship God according to the more ancient usage of the Roman rite."
"I certainly have already had occasion to express that to the Holy Father," Cardinal Burke said. "Certainly it is my hope that that he will, as soon as it is possible, take up the study of this question and try to restore the situation as it was after Summorum Pontificum, and even to continue to develop what Pope Benedict XVI had so wisely and lovingly legislated for the Church."
