This may be an unpopular tim we to say this, but every successful revolution has had a military element. Now this doesn't mean we can radicalize Blackwater mercs, but I've seen a lot of "never trust a troop" and "soldiers are all evil" talk lately, which I feel is unconstructive
We need to meet working class soldiers where they're at, and help them to see that they are meat for the grinder in the imperial machine, and that their material interest is in its overthrow. To write off the military element is historically ignorant and undialectical.
They will certainly never admit it, but the appeal of Platner was identity politics for white people on the left who conceptualize what constitutes real Americans through the prism of what resonates with them/their biases, rather than through actual class analysis.
There's no policy difference between so-called democratic socialists, Marxists, Leninists, Trotskyites, all that. Democratic socialists aren't the "I want whatever Sweden has" party. They share the same platform as your most hardened tankie. They simply don't gulag each other for disagreeing on how to achieve it.
