Dear Joe,
I wish I could sit down with you face to face and explain why so many of us were offended by the UFC fight on the South Lawn of the White House.
For me, it had nothing to do with the UFC or who showed up for the fights. The brand you and Dana have built is a bona fide American success story. More power to you. As for the fighters, in my book, anyone brave enough to put it all on the line in the arena is remarkable to witness. Their dedication and discipline inspire me. I don’t understand anyone who can’t admire that.
And as for the people who attended, I, for one, love Shane Gillis. I think he’s hilarious and brilliant. It was a show. A once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. I can’t blame anyone for wanting to witness it firsthand.
My problem is that I believe some of our public spaces are sacred. And unlike many of the great powers that came before us, these American monuments belong to all of us. Not to whoever happens to hold power at the moment.
The White House does not belong to Donald Trump. It does not belong to any President. It belongs to the people. To treat it as Caesar treated the Colosseum is antithetical to everything our founding fathers fought for.
This is not Rome. Presidents are not emperors doling out bread and circuses for the peasants. The White House is the People’s House. This “celebration” could have happened in any stadium within a stone’s throw of the South Lawn. No one would have had an issue with it.
But that was obviously Donald Trump’s whole point. By holding the event on the South Lawn, what he was saying to the rest of us is:
“This is my house. I own it. I will do with it what I please. I’ll build a colosseum and have the gladiators fight under my gaze. I’ll tear down the East Wing. I’ll pave over the Rose Garden. I’ll cover everything in gold and marble. I’ll erase the names of all the men who came before me.”
The fights were an exhibition of imperial domination, not a celebration of our 250th anniversary as a democracy.
The White House is not Buckingham Palace. It is not the Palace of Versailles. It is not the Forbidden City of Beijing. It does not belong to an emperor, or a king, or a commissar.
The White House belongs to us. All of us. The person who sits behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office is nothing more than an honored guest. A temporary caretaker.
The President is our servant. Not our Caesar.

Trump’s idiot FBI director, Kash Patel, got in hot water yesterday by prematurely bragging about having foiled a plot to commit a terrorist attack Trump’s UFC fight.

He actually did nothing; the mother of one of the perpetrators called the cops on her son after he began stockpiling weapons and getting deeply involved in an “ultra-religious and anti-government” group on the internet.

Five people have been arrested so far:
• 19 year-old Tycen Proper of Ohio
• Bryan Omar Roa of California
• Michael Alan Thomas of California
• Daniel K. Eskridge of Kansas City, Missouri
• Abraham H. Alvarez of Omaha, Nebraska

The charging documents for one of the men, 19-year-old Tycen Proper, says that he joined a TikTok group called "Vanguard of the Old."

His mother told the cops that “PROPER had recently began interacting with a group online that was comprised of individuals who represented themselves as ex-military and that may share some Christian-based ideology.”

“She stated that she did not know the name of the group, but that they expressed ultra-religious and anti-government sentiments, specifically citing grievances about government corruption, the handling of the Epstein files, data centers taking up all the water in communities, and other government actions.”

Proper himself had been posting pro-Hitler and anti-Semitic comments on social media.

The documents state that Michael Alan Thomas “believes that the U.S. government is run by an elite group of individuals who sacrifice and consume infants who also were deeply involved with Jeffrey Epstein and are now protected by President Donald Trump. THOMAS places some of the responsibility of this corruption of government with Jewish people and blames them and Israel for the current war with Iran.”

The group was plotting to attack the UFC fight with drones, driving people towards sniper teams to be shot. Sen. Marsha Blackburn was one of their targets for her slavish devotion to AIPAC and Israel.

This is a fascinating glimpse into the blowback that Trump and the right-wing propaganda machine has unleashed against themselves for spending years prompting outrageous conspiracy theories about satanic pedophile cabals…and then going above and beyond to keep the actual Epstein files hidden.

Once again, it is made clear that Trump and the right-wing are the sources of and perpetrators of political violence in America.

How ironic that they end up being its targets now.

Mike reported to the FBI that Charlie was in fear for his life after his assassination and was never contacted about it.

The Southern District of New York is the office that prosecuted Trump on 34 felony counts. He is still appealing those convictions.

The lawyer he just named to run that office - James M. McDonald - is on the legal team handling that appeal.
McDonald is a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell. He is part of the team that last month secured the Justice Department's decision to drop a fraud and conspiracy case against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani - a case brought under the Biden administration and killed under this one.

SDNY has jurisdiction over terrorism, espionage, securities fraud, and public corruption. It is arguably the most consequential prosecutor's office in the country. Trump is now placing his personal defense attorney in charge of it.

Jay Clayton, who previously held the SDNY job, is being moved to director of national intelligence - a role that opened when Tulsi Gabbard resigned and that Trump briefly tried to fill with Bill Pulte, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, before congressional pressure forced a different choice.

The chain here is not complicated. The office that convicted him gets his lawyer. The intelligence community gets the man who ran the housing finance regulator. A personal attorney now controls a portfolio that includes public corruption cases.

Elon Musk promised DOGE would save taxpayers $1 TRILLION. But, it actually just paved his path to become a trillionaire. Let’s follow the money.

- “Claimed savings”: Final DOGE claim was $214B saved. The independently verifiable amount was less than 5% of that, not including the actually costs.

Costs
- The firing-and-rehiring churn cost ~ $135B.
- Week one: 17 inspector generals fired who return $26 per $1 spent and catch the very things happening right now with the Trump family ventures, Elon’s ventures, AI, etc.
- They didn’t touch the $850B Pentagon budget that has never passed an audit.
- Also untouched were the $38B in government contracts flowing to Elon.
- Data privacy breaches by DOGE employees

And before you say that he worked for free, he did not have to file a financial disclosure because he "worked for free". This looks more like a workaround.

Elon donated over $290M to Trump’s campaign. The morning Trump was sworn in, Musk's companies faced $2.37B in legal exposure across 11 federal agencies.

Then he was handed power over those same agencies. Inside the first quarter, six of the regulators investigating Elon’s companies were cut, closed, or told to stand down.

So, he spent ~$290M to elect Trump and he left office with his cases dead and SpaceX ~$6B RICHER in NEW defense contracts.
That is not a Department of Government Efficiency.

And as someone who was on the inside when this all went down, the strategy behind finding these contracts was incredibly inefficient and just caused defense contractors, such as Booz Allen Hamilton, to merely change their name from consulting to technology. It merely caused word changes in contracts. Contracts that are bloated and should be cut, weren’t even looked at. And in the end, it cost tax payers exponentially more than it saved, including data privacy,

Just want to call out the reality of how Space X and this shady IPO even came about.

The House Judiciary minority says Patel has handed out more than $1 million in “bonus” payments to agents on his Director’s Advisory Team and his security detail. The letter calls it a personal slush fund.

Here’s the mechanism. Federal pay is capped by statute. The letter alleges Patel routed money around that cap. Nearly $8,000 per agent, every two-week pay period. Some collected five in a row. Roughly $40,000 each.

Then the accounts ran dry. Raskin says some of the payments bounced.

Who got paid? The letter points to the unit NOTUS reported as the “Payback Squad.” And it ties the cash to silence, alleging agents were polygraphed over whether they helped cover up Patel’s drinking.

Now the other column. The agents he fired include an FBI Medal of Valor recipient, the official who led the Jan 6 law enforcement response, a Marine combat veteran cut weeks after his wife died of cancer, and a counterintelligence unit that tracked Iranian threats.

Reward the loyal. Purge the rest.

Raskin wants every bonus, every authorization, and every legal memo on whether this broke federal law. Deadline June 29.
