On #InternationalLiteracyDay it is important to know that not all languages have established #Braille codes...yet. This includes North America. Learn about the development of Braille codes for Native American and First Nations languages. https://t.co/cb79SsA37E
It’s #InternationalLiteracyDay. Each year we provide free #Braille books to blind children across America because #BrailleIsLiteracy. The Braille files from previous years are still available to share.

Our social media protest tomorrow will demonstrate the need to stop the airing of @CWInTheDark with conversations on the history of blindness in the media, stories from blind actors, and ideas for change. Here's a glimpse at some stories. #LetUsPlayUs https://t.co/vM1iNgsllA
Our son is learning about Shakespeare & how women weren’t allowed to play women roles. He was astonished. I look forward to his future children being astonished that there once was a time that blind actors weren’t allowed to play blind roles. #LetUsPlayUs#RepresentationMatters
🤷🏻♀️ #InTheDark producers on decision NOT to cast a blind actor in lead role:
"Weinstock explained that part of the reason they loved Mattfield for the role was her commitment to accurately portraying a blind person."

We demand that @TheCW and @RedHourFilms re-shoot episodes of #InTheDark with a blind actress in the leading role. There are blind actors looking for work, and no sighted actor can bring the same authenticity to a blind character. #LetUsPlayUs#RepresentationMatters

Well-meaning woman: Do you need help?
T: No
Woman: ok, we were worried about you. Are you sure?
T: Yes, I’m fine.
Apparently, a teenager walking in their neighborhood is alarming. 🤔 #Bye Hint: it shouldn’t be. #DontOverExtendHelp
Being blind doesn’t mean that I can’t use a phone! I use a feature called VoiceOver which reads out loud what’s on the screen. I can keep in contact with family and friends, check train times, read and respond to emails, use social media and so much more! #BlindPeopleUsePhones
@NFBofNashville@NFB_voice Thank you! Funny, we actually met in Nashville! Live in Maryland now though. We are like the Brady bunch of cat ladies because we both brought two to the relationship LOL
