Want a better job or a bigger salary?
That won’t come from government raising taxes and piling costs and red tape on businesses.
It comes from backing the risk-takers who invest, hire and create jobs.
Here's our plan for an economic revolution to get Britain working again.
‘You live in France’. The default bleat of numpties everywhere when they can’t argue on the substance of an issue. It’s pathetic and parochial kailyard stuff. But all too typical of a certain type of know-nothing, especially the grievance-mongering, green-grifting, Westminster-blaming, low-forehead separatists that populate so much of the dismal ranks of the SNP. It inspires me to jump even deeper into the arguments!
Still looks like a dog’s breakfast to me. But the inside is impressive. The political class knows how to look after itself.
And exactly who has called it ‘one of the most treasured and beautiful buildings in Britain’?
Isn’t that how a progressive income tax is supposed to operate: the more you earn the more you pay. The trick is not to make the rates penal and you end up without big incomes to tax.
Scottish Green cranks can always be relied upon to spout deranged drivel on a wide range of topics.
So it's no surprise to hear this male MSP telling women there's been a "demonisation" of rape.
His belated and mealy-mouthed apology is fooling no-one.
What is Andy Burnham waiting for?
Revoke the Commencement Order. Bring forward emergency legislation. Stop the early release of rapists, paedophiles and PC Harper's killers.
The Conservatives will support the government if they do.
Nothing to do with the Rest and Be Thankful road (which has been allowed to deteriorate into its sad state today by the SNP government).
Everything to do with promoting S Flynn and his leadership ambitions.
He dominates the pics. The road is but a speck in the distance.
This is a male with a woman’s swim suit on. A very average male swimmer incapable of doing anything substantial on the national platform in men’s racing. Yet beat 3 USA Olympic female medalists! It is cheating the same way allowing a 15yr to race 10yr olds is. Its cult stupidity
But you don’t all pay. The UK tax system is overwhelmingly dependent on the affluent/rich paying. A substantial chunk of the population are net receivers of national wealth.
Two weeks ago I told Burnham to change course on early release.
A week ago he exempted rapists and paedophiles. Today he's "looking at" stopping PC Harper's killers being released.
The victims have suffered enough. The delays & excuses are making it worse. The PM needs to act.
There is no irreversible obligation to pay future state pensions. The rules are always being changed — and Parliament even has the power to stop paying if it so chooses. Plus if you’re going to add the net present value of future state pensions to the current national debt then you also have to calculate the net present value of future taxes/NICs that will be levied to pay for them. The net figure is not the scary one currently being wrongly bandied about. A £3 trillion national debt is real and scary enough without adding dodgy calculations to it.
If people have accumulated wealth by creating businesses and jobs, inventing new stuff, investing in people and enterprises — and all the while paid their taxes as they got better off — have they not more than met whatever debt they owe the ‘institutions and public services’ — many, many times over?

It doesn’t matter what Swinney or Flynn say, the SNPs true colours will out…
Pete saying what the others won’t, the SNP remain anti Oil and Gas.
These claims are absurd. Wrong. Anti energy security and anti jobs.
Same old SNP.
Dear SNP supporters,
Nothing your party promise is “FREE”
@theSNP have not discovered an economic miracle, they’ve stolen someone else’s credit card.
Spend more than we raise, run a structural deficit so huge the rest of the UK sends us £26 billion per year to keep the lights on. Without that subsidy we would be bankrupt.
Scotland has been pushed towards an economy increasingly dependent on the state, with more people relying on benefits or public sector jobs rather than wealth being created through private enterprise.
Independence? Its dependency dressed up as SNP generosity.
