Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO), the Onatrio Native Women’s Association (ONWA), and 2 Spirits in Motion Society (2SiMS) announce a collaborative, Indigenous-led data project focused on Indigenous MMIWG2S+.
Starting on Friday, April 18th until Tuesday the 22nd the 2SiMS Virtual office will be closed to observe the long weekend and First Nations Governance Day, which was on the 16th of April. Employees will be back in office on the 23rd. We wish you all a sunny and safe long weekend!
Sapphics are described as femmes attracted to femmes, whether they identify as lesbian, bis, queer, trans, or any identity within the spectrum of same-sex attractions! The Sapphic motifs are Lavender for Love, Pink for Fragility, Yellow for Strength and Green for Healing.
April 9 is International Day of Pink! A teenager faced homophobic bullying and students organized to wear pink as an act of solidarity and it is now recognized as a day of action. This year 2SiMS employees will be part of a Intl Day of Pink event as part of the Re-Emergence Tour!
Trans Day of Visibility is observed on 03/31 to recognize, uplift, and bring awareness to the harm, erasure, and stigma that affects our Trans* and 2 Spirit relatives. We honour the strength, courage, and resilience of our 2 Spirit and Trans* relatives around the world.
2 Spirit Awareness Day is observed annually on the Spring Equinox to highlight their shared themes of renewal, resurgence, and growth, and celebrating these qualities in our 2 Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ community members.
Owen and Emerson were crowned as the 2SiMS Powwow Ambassadors! Through this role, they have travelled to many powwows, including the BAAITS Powwow in San Francisco, CA. We are grateful to have had incredible dancers representing us, and look forward to their Specials this year.
Tracy is from Piapot FN and dedicated 25 years to the Regina Provincial Court, serving as a Judicial Officer and Native Courtworker, and the Vice President of the Saskatchewan FN Veterans Association South Branch. We look forward to having her present at this years Powwow!

Andrew (he/him) is from Little Black Bear First Nation, SK. He is a grass dancer and traditional singer, and travels with his family drum “REDDOG." Andrew will be supporting the 2SiMS Powwow as an Arena Director, and we are grateful for his support and experience that he brings.
International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8th, and serves as a reminder of what Indigenous Peoples have always known -- our women are sacred. It’s time we remember to honour our women, and the feminine spirit in all forms, and through an intersectional lens.
Amber (she/her) is a Dakota/Cree from Whitefish Lake #128, and lives in Edmonton, AB working as a consultant for her business, Wapan Kisik Consulting. She is married to Cody Memnook, and together they have 5 children and one granddaughter, with another one on the way!
Meet the faces behind Razorblade Records! Father-Son duo Cody (he/him) and Matteo (he/him) Memnook will be joining the Powwow contractor team to capture footage of our 2nd Annual Powwow. We look forward to seeing the video come together in the months to follow!
Joseph (he/him) is Dakota/Cree from Piapot FN, and is a Land-based Educator with many years of experience in the Emcee business. Joseph is described as an electrifying entertainer and will be a great addition to the 2SiMS 2nd Annual Powwow!
Rae-lynn (she/her) is Nehiyaw from Piapot FN and lives in Saskatoon, SK. She is a fancy shawl dancer, and started dancing when she was 4. She remains connected to the powwow circle through her children, and we look forward to having her as an Arena Director at this years powwow!
Angelo Wasteste will be representing Wasteste Sound Services, a family and First Nations owned and operated business established in 2015. Angelo says “[I am] truly honoured to be selected as a provider for the 2SiMS Powwow. I am proud to support 2SiMS in any and all endeavors.”
We're happy to announce the Hand Drum Contest Judges; Tristan Ironstar, and Carly Bearhead. They are incredible leaders and are passionate about the preservation of Indigenous Culture through the arts. We're excited to have them join us at the Powwow this March 15 & 16.
2SiMS Powwow MC Announcement! Rising Sun Kaysaywaysemat will be one of two MC's present at the Powwow. Rising Sun is from Kahkewistahaw First Nation in Treaty 4 territory, and is a proud husband, father, and traditional dancer. We look forward to hearing him at this years powwow.
