@jim_demps As regards the no penalty try. It is a flaw in the law that scoring can be a disadvantage in terms of having to add 2 points via a conversion rather than an automatic 7, but the laws do not give the ref discretion to replace an actually scored try with a penalty try.
@jim_demps Of course you can yellow card someone for a foul you didn’t necessarily penalise. For example if a player was hit late after he passes to a team mate and said team mate runs 20m to score. If the late hit was worthy of a card you can go back and award it.
