Keir Starmer thinks our plan to ban phones in schools is ‘completely unnecessary’.
But only 11% of secondary schools have effective bans on phones in the classroom.

@leepg Outrageous (but true 😂) you shall be hearing from my solicitors in due course ☺️. In my defence I was particularly jet lagged after several West/East flights ….i think 🤔
@bluedava@jamiehogarth@Conservatives And a very difficult time that was too in those early years of Margaret Thatcher. But let’s also remember what came after that, the resurgence of a nation dubbed the poor man of Europe and what prevailed through tough but much needed decisions based upon a long term, cogent plan
Yep, I respect your position, but as a nation we have to have a plan and be able to execute it. When it comes down to it a change of government (and one without a plausible plan) just for the sake of it can’t be the answer in my mind. Let’s see what Thursday brings.
I appreciate that, and as you say, no government it without failures, but this period in Labour's history is endlessly wheeled out as a reason to stick with the Tories. I'm sorry, but governing a country is about its future, and what we currently have will bring future generations to its knees.
@jamiehogarth@Conservatives ….with the huge impact on energy costs which this government helped fund people’s bills. Nothing is perfect in life we both know that, but what I can see is a plan that is working yet still there is much to do…yet I see nothing from Starmer or the Labour Party.
@jamiehogarth@Conservatives …that prevailed which led to his downfall. No one can argue that the current government has not made mistakes, all government ls make mistakes, but few have had to cope with a pandemic (£400b spent to keep businesses and families heads above water and then war in E. Europe ….
Jamie, it may be decades old but the period I referred to had a much respected Labour PM in Jim Callaghan, the only politician to hold all four senior offices of state. He was a centre right Labour heavy weight. But even he could not hold off or control the political influences…
@2_malcolm@Conservatives It's interesting that Labour's decades old past is always brought up as a reason not to vote for them, yet the Conservatives past, the last 14 years in particular, gets conveniently brushed over by the right.
@jamiehogarth@Conservatives I’m old enough to remember the three day week, the Winter of Discontent when Trade Union strikes wreaked havoc in this country and almost brought it to its knees….under a Labour government! I lost my job and was out of work for 12 months. Never again! Never ever again.
