Dear Sorsby Family,
I can’t imagine what you have been through with your son’s addiction. Addiction hurts the whole family system. I’m glad to see he is getting help and he’s on his road to recovery.
I’m a two time graduate of Texas Tech and I’m an LPC-S that works with people in addiction. I’ve been doing this for 17 years. I’m also a former athlete of Texas Tech. I have a unique perspective on this from my life experiences.
I know my University. I know that athletic department and the character of those men and women that run it. They will stick to your son’s side. They will honor their word of helping him.
And even though a judge granted a temporary injunction that I saw coming a mile away. From the second it was announced I knew this was gonna happen.
What I didn’t know was this insane reaction from the college football world. The ivory tower everyone seems to be in. Watching my University get dragged through the mud. Getting dragged with false information. Our leaders having to defend this even though they didn’t file the lawsuit.
This weekend I hope you as a family huddle up and discuss “is this worth it”. Your son is early on his recovery process. He took the first steps in getting it started. And I really hope he stays on that journey. Finding true sustained remission in addiction can unlock the rest of your life. It’s not easy.
Texas Tech will stick by you. From our burner accounts to the brass in charge. And many of us are in the background quietly saying “man, just declare for the draft. We love you but just declare. This isn’t fair to Tech”
Y’all decide what you wanna do. Just make sure you’re actually doing what’s best for Brendan’s recovery and not just what an injunction says you can do.
@bippy_b@CJVogel_OTF Ŧ and Sorsby is not interested in communicating externally to make you, me or anyone on X happy. They are not worried about the boycott talk bc it’s all based on a false assumption (him playing) and a bunch of chest pumping. It all resolves itself on Ŧ’s / Sorsby’s timeline.
@ReportBulldawg All your anger and rage is assuming Sorsby actually plays in a game for Ŧ. You are projecting something has occurred which hasn’t. If Ŧ supports his rehab and never activate him does your opinion change?
Last Thing I’ll say about the Brendan Sorsby Situation until we get concrete updates:
Cincinnati also plays a significant role in this entire situation as well… it’s not just Texas Tech
They knew about the Gambling Problem that Sorsby and instead of doing what’s best for him and the game? They kept it under wraps.
Scott Satterfield chose his own job security over what’s best for Brandon Sorsby/what’s best for the integrity of the sport.
@LO_SunDevils I understand. People are out for blood and want them to throw this kid to the curb. Ŧ isn’t going to do that. They take care of their players. Coming out and trashing him or kicking him off the team doesn’t serve anyone but the sharks.
@CJVogel_OTF He won’t, so it’s strictly a hypothetical. I’d be pissed. We don’t need him to beat anyone on our schedule. I know a lot of what’s on X are the voices of the very few. Ŧ will loose a lot of it’s season ticket holders and contributors if he plays.
@CJVogel_OTF I stand by what a Ŧ insider told me. I’ll be very disappointed if this changes. They knew at the time he could win his case in court and are choosing integrity of caring for him. No where has a Ŧ official said he’s playing. Everyone calm down.
@NicoleAuerbach@rece_messmer He’s not playing for Ŧ. They are simply supporting his rehabilitation. Everything else being said are just a bunch of uninformed opinions.
@UtahCFBstats@kirbyhocutt 1st smart person on here. Nowhere did anyone involved in the Ŧ program say he’s playing this year. They are focused on his recovery and will announce his playing status at a time that aligned to Sorsby’s recovery schedule.
@CriddleBenjamin@espnthefan My favorite quote is that he believes people bet bc it’s fair and they don’t believe it’s compromised. Explain slot machines and online gambling. Only thing guaranteed is the gambler will lose if they play long enough (it’s inherently fixed).
@rece_messmer@IRConfidencePod Ohh, okay. I’m sure Ohio State fan base would be totally cool if the situation was reversed. Want to talk about integrity of the game issues. Win a power 5 conference championship and not be invited into the CFP. Yeah, that’s cool. 🙄
