Let the "Esthers" fast and pray but let them also risk their lives and speak to the King.
God's generals who do "opening prayers" at political rallies and palaces should at least be loud about the bloodshed in the land.
However, if they are too afraid of losing the King's favor, they shouldn't expect their fasting and prayer to have much impact.
Teach your children to pray sincerely.
Encourage them to thank God for what they value and consider important.
The candies and the happiness of toys inclusive.
Encourage them to ask for what they sincerely desire, even if you think some of them aren't so important.
Encourage communication with God without necessarily employing religious cliches and jargon.
Just honest expressions of gratitude and dependence.
Teach your children to pray sincerely!
The first minister to serve the Holy Communion was the Lord himself.
It was he that said “This is my body, broken for you” while he was still there in person and his physical body unbroken.
If you come after him claiming that when you eat the bread you are eaten the physical broken body of the one who was bodily resurrected unbroken there is something horribly wrong with your understanding of the Lord’s table.
Same thing with the cup.
He was standing there when he poured it out and he said “this is my blood.”
If you think the wine you drink today has been turned into his physical blood, you’ve also failed to grasp the theology of flesh and bone. For the resurrected Lord is not flesh and blood. Flesh and blood will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
The body is his and the blood is his but when we eat the bread and drink the cup we do it in remembrance of him. This was his command.
Also with regards to the contents of the cup. If anyone says you are not drinking it if you don’t drink what he drank, don’t lose sleep over it. They’re not drinking what he drank either.
The Lord gave commands about the table, none of them included the contents of the table itself.
There were commands about frequency, attitude and posture when approaching the table.
Even warnings of consequences if postures were abused.
The contents however were left for context.
No where was baptism ever done in stagnant water in the text, but over the centuries Christians adapted to their context just so that the command would be obeyed. Even conducting it with sand in exceptional circumstances.
Christians did everything to obey the Lord’s commands but when context demands that Christians stay away from alcohol including at the communion table them of the circumcision cry that we’re not obeying the Lord.
Finally the communion is not some mindless memorial, it is deep fellowship with the Lord in a very spiritual sense. It is participating in the table of the Lord and drawing the gains of his redemption.
So the Lord is present at the Table in a real form so the table must not be approached mindlessly or carelessly.
Dear Nigerian Politician,
There’s a growing pattern of politically motivated medical outreaches in Nigeria.
On the surface, they appear generous. But in reality, many are short-term interventions with no continuity of care, no structured follow-up, and no lasting impact on the healthcare system.
If you’re a politician who genuinely wants to support healthcare, consider doing the following instead:
- Equip existing hospitals with functional diagnostic equipment, drugs and better WaSH ( water, sanitation and hygiene) facilities.
- Provide reliable 24/7 electricity for drug storage, vaccine preservation etc.
- Hire additional healthcare staff on short-term contracts like 3 months.
- Provide the hospital with quality water.
These will strengthen hospitals that will serve communities long after the cameras are gone.
A well-supported primary healthcare centre will save more lives over time than a one-day outreach that costs millions but leaves no sustainable structure behind.
Healthcare is not an event. It is a system.
