Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed on Tuesday that the firms funding Cale88 are Chinese state-owned enterprises, alleging these entities exist to advance the interests of the Chinese Communist Party.

During the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, Anti-Money Laundering Council Executive Director Atty. Ronel Buenaventura confirmed that P319,326,770.41 in remittances from China and Hong Kong flowed into Cale88 Foods Corporation.

The company has listed Atty. Mans Carpio, husband of Duterte, as an incorporator and shareholder before divesting in 2025.
