Contrary to popular belief, dietary carbohydrates are not necessary for a healthy diet. Many confuse the need for blood glucose with the need to consume carbs. While glucose is essential for energy and proper bodily function, our bodies have a remarkable ability to produce glucose through a process called gluconeogenesis. This process allows the liver to convert amino acids and, especially, lactate into glucose, ensuring that our blood glucose levels remain stable even in the absence of dietary carbs.
It's important to distinguish between the necessity of glucose and the consumption of carbohydrates. Fats and proteins can provide all the necessary nutrients without relying on carbs. This can be particularly beneficial for those managing conditions like diabetes or insulin resistance, where controlling blood glucose and insulin levels is crucial.
Emphasizing the flexibility of our metabolic pathways highlights that a low-carb diet can be both safe and effective. It’s time to rethink the role of carbs in our diet and focus on the broader picture of nutritional health.

When was the last time you saw a happy GP?? I’m excited to tell you about an amazing patient whose T2D is now sorted and FOUR drugs stopped 😊 ‘I love being a doctor’ @rcgp Just eat nutrient dense food that doesn’t put your blood sugar up 👍
I don’t speak of this often but listening to Nigel Farage in tonight’s debate I must.
My dad was an immigrant. From the moment he arrived in this country he worked hard every day in labouring jobs. My most vivid recollection is of his tired & weary eyes and oil stained overalls when he came home after a 12 hour factory shift. Even then he was able to raise a smile for us. He was kind & gentle & loved my mum with passion. He raised a family of 4 & instilled in each of us a fierce sense of right & wrong & love of country. His proudest day was when he became a British citizen. I recall him with love & affection & pride & carry the lessons he taught me in my heart every day. If it were not for my dad I would not be a lawyer today & in his memory I work hard everyday to make a difference for as many as I can. Immigration is a beautiful thing & don’t let charlatans like Farage tell you otherwise ❤️

@moneillsf great to have the concept of project. terrible that very short sighted for future proofing when U can have boating coming through to Newry, daft really
@AlanStout19 2/2, all sounds good but will cost at leastx3 as much.bestbthing would be for GP to actually unite and form a cohesive 'trust' based model to bid for contracts direct from Sppg rather than be given scraps. we could run that much better.
@AlanStout19 this is just another nail in the free point of access framework.
the government WANTs to isolates GP, collapse it and redo the model getting rid of the current partnership model and making GPs, trust primary care drs.the idea olds to then make practices open later and w.ends 1/2
