This afternoon One Nation voted against the ASIO Bill.

This bill is not serious about terrorism unless it names the ideology driving the threat: radical Islam.

Australia must protect life, property and freedom. This bill risks expanding state power while failing to confront the real security threat.

The bill’s reach into vague concepts for questioning powers is dangerous and open to political misuse in the future.

One Nation’s amendment would have forced the bill to deal with radical Islamic ideology directly and remove vague overreach from the questioning powers.

As these amendments were defeated there was no way we could support the large expansion of powers proposed by the Labor Government because it's clear the bill is about control, not protection.

Former senior NIAID adviser David Morens admitted to conspiring to hide federal records from the American people.

Morens worked to evade federal recordkeeping requirements and conceal communications related to the COVID pandemic.

Now, he has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit offenses and defraud the United States.

He faces up to five years in prison.

A convicted child-sex offender from Sierra Leone is arguing that granting him permanent residency could reduce his risk of reoffending in Australia.

He remains here on a 'high risk' visa—one of 342 at the last published count.

This visa category originally included 72 people convicted of violent offences, kidnapping or armed robbery; 37 of sexual offences, including child-sex offences; 16 of domestic violence or stalking; 13 of serious drug offences; and seven of murder or attempted murder.

But we have no way of knowing how many are here because Tony Burke stopped publishing monthly figures, leaving Australians without a current picture of how many remain in our community.
