the usual blend of Midwestern reticence mixed w a little bit of cynicism & the occasional earnest moment • bones for pay, ⛰🎶📚+ patriarchy-crushing for play
@MarkLazerus Patrick Radden Keefe's Rogues goes so many interesting places, writing is phenomenal. And if you're a scifi fan, Jaime Green's The Possibility of Life and Katie Mack's The End of Everything are great fun!
@MarkLazerus Fever in the Heartland by Tim Egan. Couldn't believe how much I didn't know about the KKK in the Midwest; a propulsive read despite the depressing subject matter. Everyone I rec it to raves about it.
Went out to a bar for the first time in 1000 years and got to listen to a guy talk about his podcast and how many downloads it has. So that’s me done with bars, I’ll check back in another 1000 years to see if conditions have improved.
My review of @DavidQuammen ‘s BREATHLESS, a timely & fantastic feat of science journalism that’s out today from @simonschuster#booktwitter#Reading

Was thrilled to find an advance copy of @DavidQuammen’s latest on my stoop after work & wasted no time diving in. Already riveted; cancelling all plans.
You won’t want to miss this account of how SARS-CoV-2 swept the globe from the best in the game! #BREATHLESS@simonschuster
@CarrieCallaghan i am pro-DNFing a book that you're bound to resent finishing anyway. (i can still recall the absolute ELATION the final pages of this book gave me--but i had not spent most of its 700 pgs disliking it.)
